Sesame Place in PA

We live approximately 7 hours from Sesame Place and although the web site makes it look like a really awesome place for children I was wondering if it is worth the drive? For those of you who have been there, what are your thoughts?

I haven't been there in quite some time (like 12 yrs), but I remember it being fun. We are only about an Hour away. I don't think I would drive 7 hrs just for that, but if you were planning on spending a day or two in the area it would be worth it. There are lots of things to see and do in that portion of PA, Peddler's Village in LaHaska, Philly zoo and other Philly attractions, also the Crayola factory in Easton is about an hour North of Sesame place and is fun for little ones.

We were thinking about going, and I checked out reviews of Sesame Place at Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor

I was just there two weeks ago My kids LOVE it. I think its great, but I wouldn't travel 7 hours JUST for Sesame Place (though my BFF drives 5 hours and stays overnight so she gets the 2 for 1 pass). I have to agree with the others. There's so much fun stuff in the area. Please Touch Museum in Philly is a lot of fun for toddlers, the Philly Zoo is one of my favorite zoos!

Not sure how old your kids are but an FYI on the Crayola Factory. I live RIGHT near it (like 15 mins away) and we only went once. The one time we went we had my 5 year old neice, 3 year old nephew and 18 month old daughter. The only one that liked it was the 5 year old. The other two could care less....so I wouldn't make that trip unless all the kids were over 5.

Feel free to ask me any other questions!

We took DS for his second birthday and he (and we) had a blast! It's wonderful. I don't know that I'd drive 7 hours for an amusement park but it is definitely a fun day.

If you come for a weekend - there is also the Philadelphia Please Touch Museum, Adventure Aquarium in Camden, my personal favorite - Smith Playhouse which is right around the corner from the Philadelphia Zoo (also a good time).

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions on where to stay and such. I'm a Philly native

We went a few years ago. It was more of a water park than we were expecting (too many grown-ups in too small swim suits)...the food was very expensive (more expensive than WDW and not nearly as good)...I wouldn't have driven 7 hours for it. I love Sesame Street and had wanted to visit for years. It's an AB park, so we were expecting something as good as Seaworld or Williamsburg.

We did REALLY ENJOY a train ride, I believe it was in New Hope, PA. Our son was 3 years old and LOVED it! The park where Washington crossed the Delaware was very nice and we had a great time at that historic site.

It's a great park for young kids. Pretty heavily slanted towards water rides, however. Definitely not worth a 7 hour drive, IMO. If you were in the Philly area, it's worth a stop. Lots of opportunities for photos with Sesame Street characters and they do a nice parade!

Thanks to everyone for their advice and reviews. When I checked out the web site it did look as if there were a lot of water rides, which isn't all bad since DS (4 years old) loves the water.

I agree, I wouldn't drive 7 hours just for the park, we would definitely plan on staying for a couple of nights. It seems as if the area has a lot for children and I know Philly is just full of history. I would love to go during July 4th, but I think it is a little to late for making those reservations. Thanks for the additional sight-seeing suggestions, they are all written down in my "Must-See Travel Journal".

I have a friend who is on a mini vacation at Sesame Place right now. They are having a great time with the highlight so far being that they saw the family from Jon and Kate Plus 8 at Sesame Place.

I'm anxiously awaiting her report and pictures because we are considering going for a long weekend too.

I agree with the others. I am from NJ and am an hour's drive out of Langhorne.
The mass majority of Sesame Place is a big waterpark. At night they have an Elmo/Sesame Street parade too. If you like swimming/water rides then this is your place to go.
