Gosh...my friends stayed on me and on me about getting a myspace. I thought it was totally for "teens". It's really neat though, after I broke down and created one. I remebered a while back, someone had posted who had a space and alot of people replied. I can't find that post!

Heck yeah! We have one...it's not for us to communicate with others though. It's for us to keep track of our kids and their friends. It's amazing what we have found out on MySpace. Luckily, we haven't been shocked by our kids (they don't know that we are monitoring)....but mostly we have been shocked by what we've read about some of their friends. One kid, in fact, was heading quickly for some serious trouble and we called the parents. They were very thankful...and very surprised....and VERY naive!!!!

I have one but don't have anything about our adoption on it as it just seemed risky since it was "public" (tho our profile is set to private--just didn't want to risk it) Once we get Kaiden home we'll add him on but not taking any chances til then. I've heard (from my younger co-workers) that Facebook is much cooler with fewer ads and can do more "stuff" with it. But I haven't attempted that yet. LOL

Lol! Why? I see no reason for a My Space or Facebook entry. It's like the holiday cocktail party-- you can't gain any points, you can only lose them by perceived indiscretion.

And its not like it ever goes away.

I tend to be cautiously private. I am reasonably well known in my profession. My community knows me. Certainly my church does. My family does, too.

Why on earth would I want casual surfer out in say somewhere knowing anything about my life?

I think its kind of funny. So many of us object when people in the grocery line behind us-- members of our community-- ask "Is he adopted?"

Except to the extent necessary, my life is private.

I have a facebook page, which I tell myself is the more "mature" version of myspace; it has been wonderful getting in touch with old college friends and people with whom I have lost touch. Also, with facebook and also with myspace your page can be private until you permit access to someone as your friend. I wouldn't be too afraid of social mishaps or the wrong people finding out secret information about you or your life, as you are the designer and monitor of what is put out there.

SInce you are in charge of what goes on your page and how much information you allow, if something is posted by a friend of yours that is controversial or that you don't want on, you can delete it. I think it is a great social tool that allows you to keep in touch with friends who often times reside a long distant away. I even was found by our foreign exchange student we had in high school! New technology can be frightening to some, but I think it is the new norm.

I have one. I have everything blocked unless I add you as a 'friend' (pics, blogs, etc. are all blocked private for friends only).
I know a lot of people have mixed feelings on these, but I like it b/c it helps me to keep long distance friends and family up to date on us and the boys. And when we were going thru their processes, it helped in a lot of ways (explaining the process, what was left, new pics, etc.)
