Update on agency asking for more money
I just wanted to update y'all on the post I made week before last when I received a request from my agency for more money for foster care. I received an email today stating that they were able to convince the attorney that for people who have been in process less than one year should not be asked to pay yet. I think that they feel that since we were originally told that all of our foster cares fees were covered in the upfront charge that we should at least have one year covered (I AGREE).

If your contract has the foster fees covered in it already in fees you paid, then you should NOT have to pay no matter how long the case goes on.
the extra time is unfortunately the cost of doing business in Guatemala and is not related to anything you can control, so why should you have to pick up an extra expense ever? love to you, Deb

Believe me, I have done everything in my power to get these answers even getting an atty. to look it all over. Basically it was an "back against the wall" situation. The only certain in international adoption is that there is no certain. We went over that contract a million times.

glad to hear they're seeing eye to eye. not to beat a dead horse, but you know, i wonder if the agency though would be required to pony up the money since it was their contract...??

Ditto Deb!! I wonder if you can front the money and then get an attorney to make them reimburse you if you feel they'd cancel your contract or something!! I feel you should NOT be required to pay more because belive me they've made enough money off of other past cases to take this lost!! Just my opinion anyway!!
