Still can't believe it....Jacqueline is home & sleeping peacefully in her packnplay!

Just now had a chance to check in on the forum! I had a great pickup trip (Embassy appt was 5/27). All went well with USE and was uneventful. I had several goodbyes with the fostermom and other family members and those seemed far harder on the adults than the baby.....the friend who was with me said I was crazy to let those people hold her but I did it for the baby so that she would know that all of us could be good together.

The first flight home to Houston was good and she learned to stand up in her stroller while in Immigration holding room (the officer said that she was even stander taller now that she was a new citizen)....

I enjoyed meeting many forum friends (and others) at Casa Grande and the USE. For those of you still waiting on PGN, I give you all my best wishes that things speed up very soon and that your babies may sleep in your homes very soon.

Considering how short a time we have been home, Jacqueline is adapting very well I think. She plays well in my house and loves a truck that makes sounds that I bought for me. She eats everything (including green beans)....the bath is still a drama.
But frankly I'm exhausted even though I have been sleeping when she sleeps. Please tell me that exhausted feeling will get better before she goes to high school.....

Congratulations on being home!! Oh I can remember what a sweet feeling that was to have my baby girl home in my house sleeping in her own bed!! Sorry to say the tiredness never really goes away because as they grow your worries grow which means more sleepless nights!! LOL!! Just kidding I'm sure it will get better!

COngrats! Glad you made it home safely!

Honestly, I was tired for a good couple of months after each of my girls came home. I too slept when they slept until we all got in the groove. Its just so much to adjust to on top of the let down of all the anxeity now that it is "all over" (even though it is really just beginning).

Enjoy that beautiful little girl!

Welcome Home Jacqueline!! As for the exhaustion - it does get a little better once your body adapts to the new time schedule - but at least for me I dont think I will ever be quite as well rested as I was before DS came home (but I am a very happy tired)!

Welcome Home!! I'm glad all is going well. While I don't think you will ever be completely rested again, it does get better. What seems like an exhausting day now will be much easier in a couple of months.

A big congrats on bringing your little girl home. I was SO exausted when we brought Maverick and Catalina home. I think it started getting better about a month after they were home and we had a routine down. I'm still more tired than before kids, but it's much better!

Susy, first of all...so happy for you that she is home. Second, we have been home 4 weeks now and I was totally exhausted the first 3 weeks. It's just all the adjustment for you as well not to mention the release of emotions from the process. It does pass, you are wise to sleep when she does. OUr DD also did not like her baths. I purchased the blow up ducky tub, I would start the water with her in the bath room, then I would let her hand run under the warm water, then sit her on the side of the duck tub, fill it with bubbles and then put her in. For whatever reason, it did the trick and now she loves her tubby. From my research and reading,Sleeping and bath time are the most difficult for children who have had major changes in their lives. It does get better. Blessings, Susie

Congratulations on a smooth pu trip and settling in to your new life as a family. Ah that exhausted feeling - I remember it well - you'll find you can sleep in any position because you're so exhausted but it does get better. Then other 'worries' take their place and I suppose those worries will begat other worries. You start with will baby sleep through the night, fall out of the crib, to will baby knock her head into some wall, furniture etc. to will toddler run out into the street or fall off some playground apparatus. Let's not even venture into the teenage worries = not just yet anyway. So - sleep when baby sleeps or just put your feet up and try to relax.

Yay Susy! It was great to meet you and Jacqueline at the embassy. She's a doll!

I hope you bought some good trusty running shoes, because she's going to keep you hopping! It is great to be home, isn't it? I still pinch myself sometimes to make sure I'm not dreaming.

Take care!
