Question Attachment professionals in SE Michigan?

I've hit a wall...a theorhetical 3 foot thick, reinforced concrete wall...and all I've got to get through is a plastic sand shovel.

I'm looking for a therapist/counselor/psychologist who specializes in attachment issues and adopted kids. I live in SE Michigan...anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks for your help

I am so sorry your darling little boys are struggling.

There is an international adoption clinic at the Children's Hospital in Cleveland. I am wondering if they could help you find someone locally. I'll hunt up their contact info. and PM you.

Would you like me to post the question on the Michigan Yahoo group? You might also try posting on the Special Needs and Attachement forum. I dont' know if there is anyone from our area on there, but they might at least be able to point you in a general direction.

Try this site... Welcome to Attachment & Trauma Network* - ATN
Here are what they list for Michigan...just know real qualified AT's are few and far between...but many will consult over the phone. Good luck and hang in there! (I hope these links are OK...they are from the public site.)

Thanks for everyone's help, both posted and PM'd. The 6 moves in 12 months, neglect, and suspected abuse have left their mark. We have made progress with attachment within the last few months but their are a lot of obvious emotional issues that we are dealing with. I freely admit that I am out of ideas. I've scoured books galore and am still coming up empty.
We are hoping that attachment specialists may be able to help us wioth the neglect/abuse issues (and they are varied) and do so in a way that is acceptable for kids who have suffered through multiple disruptions and your "typical" adoption issues.

Here is another site with a link to therapists that specialize in attachment. They may be some of the same ones Angelkisses mentioned.

Attachment Disorder | Nancy Thomas Parenting | Attachment.org | Reactive Attachment Disorder

We went through attachment struggles, and I just wanted to say I understand. I also read a lot and practiced attachment parenting techniques, but it still took many months for us to make progress. And then for every step we took forward, we seemed to take two steps back. But we did move forawrd, and it does get better. Please feel me to PM me if you need a shoulder. Sending hugs and hoping for better days very soon!
