Does anyone else's child sweat, ALOT?

Our daughter sweats a lot. We live in Southern IL. and for those of you familiar with our weather it can get pretty humid. It has been raining for about a month, and today it was in the high 70's. We were outside for about 5 min and our daughter turned into one big sweat ball. Is this normal?, and if it is what are we going to do when its a 90?? Does anyone else have this problem or is this something medical?

Praying for all of you who are still waiting.. I pray this week bring some good news..

Thanks
Kristi

DS sweats a lot. I discussed it with his pediatrician to make sure it wasn't anything to be concerned about, and he said "it sounds like he just gets hot". So I don't worry about it, and just try to remember to bring plenty of water when we outside.

He is almost 2 1/2 and he does seem to sweat less than he did a year ago...or maybe I just got used to it. Short summer hair helps too, because the head is the sweatiest place on him.

We live in South Florida so you can imagine how hot and humid it gets here. We were at 99 degrees yesterday! Julian is a sweater, he sweats when it's 80 degress and he's outside. I decided to cut his hair super short in the back and sides (kinda like a suffer cut style). It did help a bit.

my soon to be 5 year old sweats buckets....especially when he is sleeping. it doesn't matter if i cut off his hair and let him run around or sleep in his undies and have hte air on, he will be soaking wet. i have asked so many doctors and nurses bc i thought it was a problem, and all of them have said some people are just sweaty than others.

Not a problem. I asked this on the board months ago. My child was wearing t shirts in the winter b/c he would get hot if he was at all playing or running around. Yes, it's harder in the warm months. We just change clothes a lot.

Both of my children do. When they are out playing and running around their little heads get drenched in sweat. I always thought it was because they have such dark hair and the sun tended to beat down on it more........you know like when you wear black you feel the sun more than if you are wearing lighter colors.

This topic comes up ever couple months and most of our children seem to sweat a lot. My daughter does more so than my son, and both seem to less as they get older, but still much more than my bio son. I keep their hair pretty short and they always have light weight clothes. Even in the winter. My daughter can go from fine to dripping in the blink of an eye!

Sam is a total sweater!! But a really cute one...

When he was a baby and I would give him his slightly warmed bottle, he was leave a sweaty head imprint on my shirt.

It's confirmed - I have a sweaty one too. We also in FL, and my son is dripping in no time. Dr said as long as his heart is okay ( which it is) she sees not reason to be alarmed. Oh ya - did I mention - the kid can drink like no tomorrow. ( we tested for diabetes and all okay). He can put back 16 ozes at one time and just straight water too.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one with a wet headed baby. Hee hee

PS. Jack just truned 2 on May 18th.

ohhhhh, YES. Connor is a sweating MACHINE!!!! Doesn't matter what the temp is like outside...if he's playing or whatever, it's not long til he's pouring sweat. I honestly don't have any advice for your DD, b/c about the only things we've found to work prob wouldn't be options for you all (ie, keep hair very short in winter, shaving it completely in summer <not exactly an option for a little girl I know>; only wears shorts at night-not full pj's, etc.)
Other than just dressing her much lighter (layers probably are best so you can shed them as needed) and keep her hair off her neck, I'm not sure. If she sweats a lot at night, opt for a little tank and bottoms or a light breathable (sp?) gown. Also don't forget to keep water handy always. Connor has taken a shine to some of the flavored water (plain ol'water gets boring all the time!)...he calls it juicy water. Crayola has a line of waters for kiddos that are packaged in little 6oz bottles, together like a schoolbus. They look like koolaid and taste great. Also, think the koolaid single-bottles (called coolers?) have come out with flavored water, too.
Good luck!

Sweaty here too. Sabrina wakes up from most every nap with a wet head. And even if I turn the a/c on in the car, she is usually all sweaty when we get to our destination. No matter what the temp, when I kiss her head it always seems humid - slightly damp.

Our son is a little sweat bucket! He sweats even in the winter, so we make sure to dress him a little cooler than we would our daughter and give him more water. Our IA physician said that generally Latin American children and children from Korea tend to sweat a bit more than kids from other parts of the world.

so, not for nothing but I am the sweater in our family .. my dad too ) tell either of us it is warm in FL (we are in NH) and we sweat! Some people are just more prone to it .. Kenna is a sweater as well ... like mother like daughter
One thing that I have found helps me is Certain Dry ... use it every night for a week or 2 then I switch to every other night then once a week ... I now use the clinical strength secret and it seems to help with the "pit sweats".
This is for ME .. not the girls although as they grow, I assume that I will share with them my secret
Enjoy the day!
Maura.
