Camera can you do cool camera tricks or tips? SHARE HERE :)

look what candy, kya and jagger's momma, taught me how to do. apparently, at least on a cannon (GO CANNON) you can adjust the settings to only pick up one color. i've been watching other people do it, and i finally got in on the action.

DO YOU have any cool camera tricks or tips. post them here. (examples are fun too .

I noticed that on her blog too - that's soooo cool!!

One warning though - if you take the picture on that setting, you might not "get the other colors back", so if you are taking pictures of an important event, you might want to edit it later so you don't lose all of the color.

Just a suggestion.

I edit photos on Photoshop and do the same thing fairly easily.
Here are the examples - one before editing and one after in black and white with Celeste in color.

good tip W4C....i don't have photoshop, so i have to do it on my camera. but i will file that away should i ever get that program.

to do this on a cannon:

when you are ready to take a picture
1. push functions/set
2. switch from automatic to color accent (probably from pic of a camera to a medicine dropper with an A pic)
3. push funct/set again

you are almost ready....

1. push display
2. select color to be displayed (on the 1100, you scroll to the left or right while focusing on the color to pick up, and it will put it on the screen)
3. push func/display again

you should notice now on the screen that whatever color you chose is the only color there.

lastly:

1. take the picture as normal

...i have noticed this works best outside or in a very light room.

it seems complicated, but once you get the hang of it...it is easy to switch back and forth

Very nice--I love how it picked up all the green.

I did these on Photoshop express. It's free and soooo simple. My friend JoAnn (sweetjourney) showed me how to do it.

Photoshop directions

OK, this is how *I* do it... there may be an easier way - but this has worked for me!

1: open photo in photoshop in FULL EDIT
2: open the layers tab
3: make a duplicate layer of the photo
4: click on ENHANCE and change that layer to black and white
5: use the eraser tool to erase the area of the picture that you want to be in color (since you are erasing the top photo that is in black and white, the color layer will show through)
Tips:
1: you'll want to magnify the picture to get all of the pixels
2: use a large eraser tool to do the large areas, then make the tool small to get the very edges

Again, that's how I do it... but I haven't always been known to do things the EASIEST way... but it works for me!!

Ok everybody say it with me now.... C A N O N! Only 2 n's in canon. LOL! One of the things I really like to do is bump up the contrast and saturation in the parameter settings. Gives a really rich look to the photos.
