potty training in one day

Has anyone used this technique and had it work?
If so how old was you child?
One of my girlfriends used this and her daughter really did get trained in one day. She made the connection of the feeling right before she had to go and would then take herself to the potty, it really only took a few hours and then only had 2 accidents in the next months (nights not included.) She was 28 months old at the time.

I decided I would try this too. I read the book and figured she would be easy as she has started asking to go potty for the last week when she has to poop. But only goes pee if I happen to put her on the potty before her bath at night.

If any of you have had luck with this method please let me know. I did this whole technique today but she never made the connection. She did pee about 6 times in the potty but that is because I initiated making her sit on the potty. She never said " I have to go" and took herself to the potty area. When I just did nothing and waited to see if she would say she had to go or run to the potty area she would end up peeing herself.

Now I don't know if I start the whole process over again tomorrow or what?

Please help with any tips you guys might have.

Pam

My oldest daughter (now 3) potty trained in one day. We did it the weekend after she turned 2 (so 24 months). She had been telling us, for a couple of months prior to then, when she needed a new diaper; however, we put it off b/c we had just brought home our twin daughters. So, I'm not sure if we used the method exactly, but here is what we did...

*Put on a dress and no panties (had the carpet/floor cleaner ready)
*Set a timer all day and took her every 30 minutes...By the end of the day, she would run to the potty every time she heard the timer go off and we at least "tried".
*If she went pee or poo she got a band-aid and a skittle (she was really into bandaids then and we don't usually let her have candy, so she LOVED the skittle)

Pretty early in the morning she had her first accident and let me tell you, it "freaked" her out! She hated it! So, I think it had a lot to do with her personality...she doesn't like to be dirty. Anyway, she had 3 accidents in that day (the 1st day), and 1 or 2 accidents the next and that's all....she was potty trained! She has NEVER had a poo accident. I know she was extremely easy and we're not expecting our twins to be so easy! We're starting with them in a couple of weeks??!?!

My daughter potty trained in 1 day at the age of 2 1/2. I did not use this method, but I waited to train her until she was ready. She woke up one morning dry and when I put her on the potty she went and she got a jelly bean. She loved those jelly beans so she went potty all day and the next day she was in underwear. Maybe 2 accidents for the next month!!! I do not give my child candy or chocolat so the jelly bean was a BIG treat for her. To get her to go poop, I wrapped up inexpensive gifts and put them in the bathroom and told her she could have a present if she pooped in the potty. The gifts were very inexpensive and most of the time they were something she already had but it had been put away for so long she forgot about it. She was pooping that week and we haven't had a problem since, even at night!!!

My suggestion is wait until you child is ready and it is a piece of cake. If you start to early you end up potty training for months. This way its done in a snap and your child actually gets it.

My son potty trained in 1 day at 27 months old. We didn't do anything special really, he was ready, asked to go, wanted underwear...had a few accidents that day and had 2 the following day that were only because we have 1 bathroom, someone was in it, and he only used the big potty. I personally think the one day stuff only works if they are truly ready.

This is about a friend of mine, but she has 5 kids she has potty trained. The first 4 potty trained at 2 years old over 2 weeks with a lot of pressure and corporal punishment (they are teenagers now). She has one daughter that is younger than my son and when she saw how easily he potty trained when he was ready, she decided to wait, but couldn't figure out how to PT without rewards or punishment. She decided just to wait awhile and see if her daughter would do what Isaac did. She did. At 26 months, with no pressure, rewards, or punishments, her daughter also asked for underwear and PT in 1 day. Some kids I know haven't asked for underwear until around 4. It just depends on the kid and when they are ready.
