I finally went to the SS office this morning to apply for Cristian's SSN. I'd been putting it off for a variety of reasons. We've had so many things happen between when we brought him home in March and my coming back to work full time mid-April.
Anyway, I began to get nervous as I thought the 'processing' of the application took too long. Then she asked for a shot/immunization record. My heart dropped b/c I'd left it at home (I'd just taken it out to make copies of it for something else--eek!!) She then began a speech on how they couldn't process the app w/out it b/c it ID'd the child. I asked if his visa would ID him? And she happily accepted that (whew!)
At the end when she handed me the letter/receipt that had his name with OUR last name at the top, & said 'Congratulations. Your application has been approved and you should receive your baby's card in about 2 wks", I began to just sob. That definitely took her by surprise and she began apologizing. I could only get out that it was just still very emotional and to see his name have OUR name: so overwhelming. Then I gathered my things and ran out. I'm sure I gave the entire office lunch conversation (my ears are burning, 'did you see that crazy lady cry about her baby's SS app?')
I'm so sorry I took so long to post much of anything after we got back. But you all never leave my thoughts for long. And even when I didn't post, I lurked on here to try to keep up with everything. We're still praying for everyone, cheering with all the recent pinks and progress, but also hurting for those dealing with all the newest PGN antics.
I also wanted to share some pics of my boys. We're all doing great. We're closing on our house TOMORROW (yahoo!), and should be closing on our new house soon (I'm sure that will be a whole other post!) Connor sure loves his little brother now, but that was not the case in the beginning (yet another post I owe; see how many posts I owe you all?) He's doing better now, but still likes his space. I will say Connor's told me on 2 separate occasions to "take him back!" Poor lil guy. Quite an adjustment...
Cristian is doing great, too. He turned one on Apr 26th, had his first tooth come thru AND 1st haircut, all in 1 day (I sobbed like a fool yet again ). I knew the tooth would break thru soon, but good gravy did it have to happen that day ? Oh, well...he thinks he's a big shot now tho and is ready to give up his baby food for a steak, lol. This boy is an EATER! He is such a social baby; gives lots of hugs n kisses, says 'mom-mom', 'dada', 'ki-ki' for kitty cat, and most recently, 'dog'. I'm so proud!

I've been thinking about you and your boys. Thanks for the great update - please, I almost had tears running down my face reading your post about your visit to the SS office. Yes, your son has YOUR name and how wonderful it is. And of course handsome Connor would be a tad jealous of cutie Cristian - I know of other bio sibs who told their parents to send the baby back ... so quite natural really. What a happy boy Cristian is - I'm sure he's learning a lot from his big brother (and you and DH of course!!). Oh yes, and while you have nothing else going on your closing on your house - yeah!! You can do it all.

I have to add that I'm afraid the spontaneous tears are a part of this whole process. I remember bursting into tears when the lady at the bank waived my processing fee for the first payment/certified check to the agency! Dang... if some of these instances could just be predicted! They just always catch me completely off guard! (Like now!! Reading your post!)

I had my daughter's ss card exactly one week after applying. Hope your's is there soon.

I also have to share that I cried a few weeks ago at the library storytime. It was during the song "It's a Small World" and I just couldn't stop the flow.

You will have more of those, I'm sure.

Congrats on the ss. You made me cry!! I am with ya on being very emotional. Holy Cow! Had my shower yesterday, and during the prayer my friend prayed for us to be together as a family, I cracked her on the arm and said you weren't supposed to do that. The crowd seen my tears and all went aaaawwwww, then more started flowing. It is nuts how the tears are endless. But anyways, both of your little guys are absolutely georgous. I just love seeing pictures.
