I'm a big fan of North Carolina and would go back in a heart beat!

We lived on the coast, which was very 'small townish' - but even living inland more, like in the Raleigh Durham area, you're still just a short drive to the beach (or the mountains) for a day of fun.

I really really miss it a lot - and it had that small town southern charm (and pace) that I was accustom to, being from a small town in Texas.

California is to fast for me...to much traffic...to much...everything. I prefer a more laid back and relaxed lifestyle, such as North Carolina.

So Cal!!! We love it My husband is stationed here and we like it so much we decided to buy a home and stay when he gets out of the military!
The beaches, the parks, the sunshine, it is a great place to live! Plus we get plenty of friends and family coming to visit as they all want to go to Disneyland, Legoland, etc. Everyone who visits also gets a mandatory surfing lesson from my husband Okay so I know the other places mentioned are beautiful too but just thought I would give you my 2 cents

South Carolina all the way!! We live in the suburbs of Charleston which has 2 beautiful beaches, the historic district and loads of warm sunny weather. And it 's only about a 3-4 hour drive to the SC & NC mountains. Home prices are reasonable and jobs are plentiful.

I was raised in so cal moved to Arizona 3 years ago and now am trying to get back to my roots! I miss it so much and with the housing market dropping it just might be possible. I have been looking in the Oceanside area (near san diego) and it is not to bad price wise. My cousin lives there and the area he is in is really nice.
I figure I do not need a big house or yard if I am living im socal because there is so much stuff to do there I don't want to be home on the weekends taking care of it all!

SW Florida...Cape Coral to be exact! I've lived here for 30 years. It's grown so much but it's a great town. We're about 45 min from Sanibel and about 30 min from Fort Myers beach. It's pretty warm most of the year. We lowest we dip is 40ish in the evening but it never lasts more than a few days. The housing market is PRIME right now for buyers. You can pick up a very nice home, with a pool, on a canal from about 200K upwards. Our area really boomed during the bubble in real estate and canal houses, especially those with direct river access, were going for 750+. Once the bubble burst, it went down fast. Come on down for a visit. Florida has a lot to offer

AZ gets my vote hands down. I would move back there in a heartbeat if I could - Actually I probably will in 2-3 years... You have to drive to the beach but it does boast the most boats per capita (or used to anyway )
