I have to say, I am really not easily offended by much, but this still upsets me. I am glad they took the non mom title off, but I feel offended being lumped into a catagory of caretakers (grandparents, orphanage workers, etc.). Adoptive moms are working moms, single moms, or "chairmen of everything" moms and more. Just because our children didn't come from our bodies does not make them or us any different or less real. I am very disappointed in NBC. The networks work so hard to be politically correct, you would think they could try a little harder about something like this.

I agree. I usually shrug these things off as ignorance, but this whole "non-mom" thing really offends and hurts me. Although I'm glad they changed the title, I don't like being put into a different category with caretakers. It still sends the message than I'm not my son's "real" mom. I also don't like that the caption for the adoptive mom says something like "She has one child of her own, and six adopted crack babies." Does that mean her six adopted kids are supposed to feel grateful that she deigned to take them in and raise them with her "own" child? Maybe I'm being oversensitive, but it bugs me.

Non-mom has been removed...yes....I am stilloffnded by being an "adopting" mom. The adoption is done. Now, I am just a MOM.

As an adoptee I still don't like the title..adopting mom...my mom is my mom, end of story. And why is the adoptive mom lumped with the step mom..that is TOTALLY different in my opinion. I think adoptive moms can and should be included in any of the other categories as well! UGH

She has seven children, six of whom were adopted and exposed to methamphetamines in the womb and were born meth positive.
Before I thought it mentioned something about a child of her own and six who were adopted.

I still think the categorization stinks. It really makes no difference to ME what others think of me as a mom, but what kind of a message does it send to our kids? I have bio kids and am now adopting. I'm not going to be a different type of mom to our little guy than I am to our other three! That's just ridiculous. So, I responded to their response asking them to completely ravamp the whole thing if they decide to do it in the future.
