Yeah! Our voices were actually heard!
I am still not satisfied with the "Adopting Mom's" category especially since NBC said "Certainly, it was always our intent to celebrate all moms, and that's why we wanted to have that category." If you wanted to celebrate us then why not just put us in the regular "mom" category??? We do not need to have our own seperate one but oh well.

I just read all about this and was disgusted. I had to write to NBC and Teleflora. Here is my email.
America's Favorite Mom (Please, just call me Mom.) I recently read about your special titled America's Favorite Mom that is to air Sunday evening. I was horrified to learn you had dared to label mothers who had adopted their children as "non-moms." This is so unbelievably insensitive, ignorant, and cruel. Last spring my husband and I adopted two beautiful children from Guatemala after many years of infertility. We did not care how children came us, only that we would one day have children of our own. We braved months of scrutiny by home study and adoption agencies, local governments, state governments, the federal government, and a foreign government in order to welcome our precious son and daughter into our lives. I even lived with my children for some months in Guatemala so I could build a bond with them sooner. I find it so completely offensive that anyone would try to diminish that bond by using such irresponsible and hurtful language. I know you recently tried to correct this "error" by relabeling the category as "adopting mom," but truly that is no better than the original term. It still implies that mothers who adopted their children do not measure up to those with a biological connection. The words adopt, adopting, and adopted are verbs to used for an action, not adjectives for people involved in the action. I am not a non-mom or an adopting mom, I am simply a mom. I do not have adopted children, I simply have children. Yes I did adopt them a year ago, but that is an action that happened and is now over, and has little to do with our daily lives. In future, I suggest you simply honor mothers and not worry so much about how they came to be mothers, as that is the most unimportant detail. Heather *, proud mother to McKinley and Kate

Hey gang. Don’t let the labels that other people attach to us get you down. We ARE all mothers. You too Bob.
It’s great that our message was heard, even if they’re still missing the point. At least it’s a start. I can guarantee you that when they’re planning their Mother’s Day special next year, they’ll think twice about how they label people. Baby steps….baby steps. Happy Mother’s Day to All!!!

I see they apologized. I forgive them, and I believe that someone somewhere in the recesses of Teleflora and/or NBC is sincerely and truly sorry for this whole ordeal. I am sure it was ignorance - in the kindest sense of the word - not malice, which caused this positively colossal error in corporate judgement.
It baffles me how anyone at all familiar with adoption could call any one of us a non-mom. The only thing more puzzling is how that hugely offensive title made it through whatever system of checks and balances their marketing verbiage goes through internally. *sigh* I am pretty low-maintenance on the politically-correct scale, usually cut folks slack because virtually everyone says something without thinking at one time or another. But large companies with marketing teams reviewing copy before it goes to print? I really don't get how this happened.
