Carlos has gotten hand, foot and mouth disease. Thank you for all that have shared in the past when your child has gotten an illness. He started with symptoms this weekend so I came to my trusty board and sure enough found some suggestions that helped get us thru until Monday. Went to the DR and had it confirmed and got some other meds to help him heal. Dr said his gums were infected and that his throat was covered in big blisters. Nothing on the hands and feet, but he does seem to be tender all over, wants to be carried and not walk without shoes on. By the way his first symptoms were high fever 102.6, miserable and put his hand to his mouth and said owwwww. So now we are just riding it out in bed snuggling (or as Carlos say nudle) Just wanted to post incase anyone else is looking for info like I did. Apparently it is going around lately.

IZZY had that not too long ago and the best thing was the medicine that had numbing stuff in it. (sorry forgot the name) pm me if you need me to search the med. cabinet for it.. just lots of snuggle time and cold things to drink if you can get baby to drink.

My daughter has it right now, too. Also nothing on the hands/feet. She'd been saying "boo boo mouth," same fever you report, and out of her mind miserable. Everything I try to do irritates her ("no rub back, mommy. rub back, mommy), yet she wants to be attached to my body nearly every minute. It should be gone soon...

Rebecca, thanks, we have that it's xylocaine, malox and benedryl(prescription) and zoverax. I have to practically sit on him to get it in but it does help.

Stephanie I can't get him to do anything but drink his bottle, room temp only. He wants to eat so bad but when he tries it hurts. Don't you just want to cry? I feel soooo bad for him. He has to have skin to skin contact all day. I will enjoy it while I can.

Sabrina had this several months ago and also only had the sores in her mouth. One thing that really helped was popsicles. I think the cold made her mouth feel better. She cuddled with Mommy on the couch and watched Sesame Street and PBS Kids cartoons all day. I was humming the tune for Elmo’s World for weeks. Heck, who are I kidding...I’m still humming it.

My little one had the same thing last week - of course he was sick over his birthday. Unfortunately, I now know how he felt since he shared the virus with me and now I have the fever and sores in the mouth. It is truly miserable!!
