I have been helping a family that was stuck in PGN for forever and finally got out. Now they have been waiting for the Mixco BC for 6 weeks. I you are seeking information or assistance on getting a BC out of Mixco, how do you contact? I am pretty sure that PGN can not help with this but I am not sure who is the responsible organization/agency.

As a family adopting two children that were born in Mixco and I can tell you that there is nothing you/they can do and that the bc's WILL come! John Lowell, from the U.S. embassy in Guatemala, did intervene in the situation, all the "authorities" are aware of the situation. The bc's will come but it will probably continue to take way longer than other municipalities. Our son's bc took 3 months and our daughter's took two. Tell them to hang in there - 6 weeks isn't very long to wait for a Mixco bc. It SHOULDN'T take this long but it does. It will come.

They should also contact Ethica (Adoption.com - Information on International, Domestic, Child & Agency Adoptions, Stories, Laws) as they are monitoring and working on this.

I don't know how it was done but my birth certificate from Mixco took less than two weeks. If you would like my attorney's name PM me.

The attorney/facilitator working the case should check to see if there have been any previos issued. If not, I'd sit tight another couple of weeks. It took us about 8 weeks to get ours, but, we had a previo that we weren't aware of until my facilitator spoke with the registrar. Once she found out about the previo, she immediately got it corrected and our BC was issued.
