Crib toys/naps
Hello Everyone,
I am seeking advice on nap time. My daughter came home 9 weeks ago and had never slept in a crib or alone since birth (she is now 14 mos). Since two weeks after her arrival home, she sleeps in her crib, in her own room and through the night (thanks to the Ferber method). She sleeps anywhere from 10-10.5 hours straight through, or if she wakes, she puts herself back to sleep. For this, I am forever grateful. However, when it comes to nap time, she is a bit more fussy. My question is at 14-15 mos, do any of you have any suggestions for safe crib toys and napping schedules. I do try and keep things consistent, maintain napping rituals but she is in transition from two naps to one which adds to the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much, Trina |

DS and DD each have a couple of small "lovies" for sleeping time that live in their cribs. In the morning when they get up they say "Bye, bye" to the "lovie". Then, when they go back in for naps the sleeping "lovie" is their crib waiting for them. Also, we go through the same rocking, reading and singing rituals at nap time as we do at bed time.
DS (18-1/2 mo old) has been home 9 mo and has been sleeping through the night 10 - 12 hours and napping 3 - 4 hours per day (we play hard when he's awake). Most days he still splits nap time into two naps but sometimes he take the whole nap time in one sleep. DD (13-1/2 mo old) just came home a week ago and we were told in Guatemala that she took 1 fifteen (yes, that's 15) minute nap per day. Are you kidding me! Anyway, since we have been home she is sleeping 10 - 12 hours each night and takes 3ish hours of naps per day, usually split into 2. Basically I have DS and DD on same sleeping schedule since they are so close in age and since they are sharing a room. I remember for my DS (and am doing same for DD) that naps were harder to learn and sometimes I had to go back in the room a few times and just lay DS (or DD, now) back down, pat the back, and head out without saying anything. This worked well for my sister with her kids, for me with DS and seems to be working with DD. Good luck. ![]()
