program? Yes, I just saw this on a website. Anyone else see this, and has anyone heard that the program is reopening? I am very shocked. I hope it is, for the children's sake, but if agencies are trying to collect money when there is no hope of it reopening in the near future, they should be ashamed.

A Forum member posted a few days ago about an old friend contacting her with the news that they were finishing up their dossier for Guatemala and were waiting on a referral - or would be soon. And they believed that the child/children would home in would would be some absurdly short about of time - even if they could get a referral. There are a lot of really dishonest agencies out there. Absolutely sickening.

I think I know what agency you are talking about, and they did not get Hague accredited either. It made me feel sick when I read about it on their website a few months ago.

I would urge you to send a note to Kevin at Guatadopt. I think they are keeping a database of what they consider to be less than ethical practices going on right now.

Even if an agency isn't charging any money to apply (which I doubt), it's terrible that they would even think of getting a PAP's hopes up that they may be able to move forward in the next few months or years when they have absoutely no idea. They need to be shut down completely. I am tired of adoption agencies playing with peoples, hearts, minds, souls and money and getting away with it.

It took me about 5 minutes online to find the adoption agency you are referring to...it's just terrible that they would try to get 300.00 out of people for an application fee and then the agency fee...I don't know when that's due, but I assume when they accept you as a client....that will be months and years before Guatemala opens up...deplorable!!

Stephanie, I'm slower than you .... it took me 10 minutes to find site but even after seeing it with my own eyes I can't believe they have the balls to say that (and to tell people to work on homestudy & 171 approval in interim)!

Can someone PM me the name of the agency? I am truly shocked. I can tell you that no one I have talked with has any idea if or when Guatemala will ever open up.

This could be the old 'bait and switch' tactic...get them to sign on, start working on the homestudy and try to get them to switch to another program.

Or it's simply them trying to get the 300 fee knowing full well that no one knows anything at all about Guatemala opening back up!!!

Can someone PLZ pm agency name as well....friend of mine is considering and I want to make sure its not this agency...My agency told me when they open up Guat again...I am to get a phone call...I trust my agency and I HAVE NOT recieved a phone call yet. They are saying it could take a couple of years.

I just looked at the childeren matched section on their website, and last week several of those children said on hold, now they are matched. They probably told those families that the program wasn't on hold anymore, and had to change their website to reflect that, in order to get the fees.
