Anyone watching "Plight of the Guatemalan Females"???
It's on right now (11pm est)-on the documentary channel about the violent crimes against women in Guat & how they're not pursued, etc.. So very sad...

Yep
Yes, we are watching this and I am just so sick. I was telling my mom about it and she said you just never know where my ds birthmom is. She said you know she might not even be alive. It is hard to think that something like that would happen, but when I watch this and just listen to all the sadness in this it is heart breaking. I have heard of terrible things happening in Guatemala, but never actually seen all the violence.
I thank the good Lord above for my son and the opportunities he will have here in America. We are truly blessed! Amy

Looks like it was just a 1/2 hr thing---sorry!!! I only caught it into 10 min's, so caught the last 20.
I have satellite, just says "DOC" for the documentary channel. What I did get to watch was so sad and moving. THey followed a couple cases in particular and how 1 victim chose to come to the US to be the 'voice' and shed light on how women's cases are never solved (or usually not even investigated) due mostly to "impunity". And now that she's returned to Guat, she & her family face even more harrassment. It also showed some of the demonstrations in Guat that go on protesting violence against women. I sure wish I'd known this was on! I can't believe they only did a 1/2 hr special on it...or did I miss WAY more than 10 mins??? I'm left hanging here!

Amy, I was thinking the whole thing the entire time---then at the end when it flashed victim's faces/names, of course I couldn't help but look for my sons' birthmothers. It terrifies me to think this could be a possibility for them. Absolutely sickening and heart wrenching

The show actually came on at 10pm and it was on until 11:30pm. I caught it at about 10:15pm. It was heartbreaking. When I caught the show a 13 year old had been murdered and they showed the grave side type service.
Her poor mother was crying and begging her to come back and saying that she would be alone forever. It was awful. I could not stop watching. I even got my dh involved. I was doing my bills so I was more listening than watching, but I kept asking him what was going on. truly sad Amy

Yes, I also watched on the Documentary channel on Dish Network - satelite.
It was an amazing show. I almost woke my DH out of a sound sleep to watch it before remembering that I could just record. I said extra prayers for Josh's Birthmom, Fostermom and foster sisters last night.
