Where do you send the G-884

Hi All,

I am finally getting around to sending my G-884 for my first son and I am confused as to where to send it. It tells you to mail it to the USCIS office or service center that took last action on your case. The last action on my son's case would of been when we filed his COC. Is this where we send it or do we send it to the office in Miami where we arrived in the US? Thanks for the help.

Blessings,
Anne

no answer just our experience...

there's a post that you could find about this. This part of the process is so confusing! I sent the papers for both of my babies, each one to a different place and we just received our baby boy papers. Our baby girl one is lost! we sent it to Lee Summitt becuase she was home more than a 1 year and now we have to do it again because I called to the office and they have nothing from us!!!
So read everything you can and be sure where to send it. If not you, like us, will have to send it more than once.

How long ago did you get the COC? And from where? Was this an IR3 were the COC was issued automatically or an IR4 where you applied for it later?

The general rule is that if your child comes home on an IR3 visa, you send the form to the Buffalo office that issued the COC. If your child comes home on an IR4 visa, you send it to the office that issued the green card, or, if you have readopted and gotten a COC, the office that issued the COC.

The exception to this is if it has been over 15 months or so (just a rule of thumb) since any action was taken on the case, the packet has probably made its way to the National Records Center in Lee's Summit, MO and you should send the form there.

They can track where the packet it and many offices are good about forwarding the G884 if you send it to the wrong place (or the packet is no longer there) but not all offices do.

Debbie,

Thanks for the info. My son was issued a new COC after his readoption about 2 years ago. I will definitely look into sending it to the National Records Center.

Thanks again,
Anne

Yes, if it was two years ago, I would go with the National Records Center. MommytoEli has a sticky at the top of page 1 with the address.
