Looking for others in process with an older child

We just started the process to adopt a little girl who will be 5yo next month.

I would love to keep in touch with some of you who are in the process as well. I have heard that the process can take a longer with an older child. I think it would be neat to track our progress and check out/compare eachother's timelines.

Our case is a relinquishment and our daughter is in a foster home.

Please post if you are adopting an older child and wether your child is in a hogar or foster home, and if it's a relinquishment or abandonment.

We are adopting an 8 year old sweet little girl. We went into PGN on Sept 1, 2006. We are on the final leg of the journey awaiting news of pink any day! When we started, she was 5 1/2 years old. Probably not what you want to hear right now, but we had a bad situation with the birthmom's cedual missing the mayor's signature. It held us up for months. We did go on a visit trip and have been in touch with her foster mom. Let me know how I can help! Take care, Susan

We are in the process of adopting a 4 year old and 7 year old (bio sisters). We have not had much luck thus far as we accepted our first referral at the end of 2004. We've actually been on our adoption journey for five years now.

We've just been resubmitted to PGN with our 7 year old and are awaiting our Constancia for our 4 year old so we can be resubmitted. Check out my timeline for all the details and feel free to PM me if you'd like.

We are in the process of adopting a 6 year old girl .
She is living in a hogar.
We stared July 05'.
She was 3 when we started and we visited in Oct 06'
We are with an agency who has been arrested , we even had to fly Michigan to testify.
This case is suposed to be an abandonment , but the birthmom has had to be interviewed numerous times.
Honestly we don't know what is really going on .
We have contacted MANY people who are involved in Guatemalan adoptions, and they are ALL confused with this case.
We don't know if we will ever bring her home.
We pray we will complete this adoption .
We are leaving it in God's hands .

We are doing two adoptions at once. First is our 13 yr old daughter... just waiting to get into PGN with her. She is living with a family that we have known for years... They treat her like one of their family and she is being spoiled to death!!

Second is our three younger daughters. They are 8, 6 & 3. Their case in an abandonment, we have their AD's and we are "NOT SO PATIENTLY" waiting for our re-newed I 71-H so their case can go for PA..... The little girls live in and Hogar, and all are doing well.

Can't wait to get them ALL Home!!!

Older kids too...

We are adopting two girls ages 4 and 10. Almost 11 and 5 which makes me a little sad but we knew going into this that there was a very slim chance they would be home for their birthdays at the end of March. COA's are in place although the USE does not seem to understand what that means so we have been waiting about 86 days for PA! About 54 since we got our I 72.

The girls have been in the hogar for about two years. They are actually cousins. We are out of FC and registered with CA so come on lets go PA so our girls can come home!!!! Renee

My DS was 5.5 when we got him in 2000....and our DD is 5.5 now and we just got her in Dec. Her's took 1.5 years, but there were some needless slow points (PA took a long time to register etc....) We started her's in August of 2006 and finished in Dec. of 2007.

PM me if you have any questions!! Good luck to you!!!

We are adopting a 5 yo girl. We started in Aug 2006 and we leave for pick up in 2 days. Honestly, both our girls( one was a baby) were one case in PGN and it was the baby that held us up the most. We had problems with the baby's birth mother signing, and then her Mixco BC. Oh... the 5 yo did take longer for PA. They are both in the same foster home and are not bio siblings.

We are adopting a 2 year old boy; not quite an older child, but definitely not a baby either. His case is a relinquishment, and it is crawling along, though I don't really know why we are moving so slowly. I am hoping he will be home before he turns 3. He has been with the same FM all his life.

In November of 2006, we brought home our 3 1/2 year old from Guatemala. And on December 23 of this past year, our 3 year old son came home from Haiti. We are also waiting and praying our now 10 and 8 year olds in Guatemala will still come home.

I love the older children. My heart is absolutely drawn to them and I would adopt an older child again in a heartbeat!
