My daughters re adoption is FEB 14 so I was wondering if there was anyone out there that has re adopted in Ohio how long did it take to get your NEW OHIO BIRTH CERT. Thanks for any info.

Ours was a few weeks ago. The court told me to expect it in 6-8 weeks.

Our hearing was the last week of November and we got it right before Christmas. I hear that is a very fast turnaround though.

Ours readoption was July 9th and the BC came in the mail on Sept 27th. At about 9 weeks.

My hearing was 04Jan2008 and I was told it was a 12 week wait and not to even bother contacting Columbus until Mid to late March. The BC is not coming directly to me- even though the paperwork seemed to indicate it, I have to request a new BC. Not sure if this is because I did a name change at the same time, but I was shocked it is going to take so long.

It took ours approximately six weeks. Our court date was the beginning of December. They sent it directly to the Probate Court office and they forwarded it to us. I have already ordered a second one from Columbus so that I have an extra copy just in case I ever need it. We also did a name change.

I never requested mine until 5 months after our re adoption. LOL. I got in one week...but I have a friend who re-adopted in October and is stil waiting for hers. She called them and they said they were still working on it. I can't believe how quick some of you got yours and that she is still waiting! Crazy if you ask me...

The court automatically sent all readoption paperwork to the BC office to be issued. They told us to wait around a month and that we physically had to go down in person and request copies to the BC office. The court said the BC would be made when they received the papers from them (the court). But the BC office does not automatically send them out. We had to go down and request copies.

We went down to the BC office a few months after readoption, hoping the court sent all readoption papers. They did! The BC was already made, and we just had to wait around 10 mins or so there while they made certified copies for us.

Maybe it varies by county or where the court sends the readoption paperwork to? Make sure to ask at your readoption appt about their BC proceedures and if you need to do anything or if its all automatic.

we just moved to Ohio a few months ago. I wanted to see if most of you did a readoption or a recognition of foreign birth for Ohio state???
if you did a full readoption did you use a attorney or were you able to file the docs yourself and what were the costs?
we have been overseas for the past few years so, we really need to get our son a USA birth certificate (IR3 visa) now that we are back and Ohio is now home
