Dry Skin Help

What has worked on your little one's dry skin? My daughter has spots of dry skin on her legs and I can't find anything that works.

Hydrolatum ... works wonders and it's not as 'greasy' as Aquaphor ... DS has the same dry patches and this is amazing. Also one bonus if some of it gets on your clothes it does not stain or seep in like Aquaphor. It's sold at Walgreens and CVS but you have to get it from their pharmacy. No-one has been able to tell me why since no prescription is required. Buy a big tub

JustBarb--is it expensive? Owen doesn't have major dry spots but his legs get SOOOO dry, worse than mine and I have to shave mine! The baby lotion just isn't cutting it.

Antonio was just at the Dr. for exzema. He told me to try Eucerin. It worked great. No smell. I lather him up every diaper change. It really helped him.

I've tried Eucerin, Aquafor, Aveeno and Cetaphil. None of them have worked great but they did improve it somewhat. I'm going to try the Hydrolatum. Thanks!

My bio son has TERRIBLE dry skin and patches of it that itch him all over. It gets super bad in the winter and our DR told us to use Eucerin Calming Cream because it's not greasy and it WORKS. It's about $10 for a large bottle of it and I have to put it on him once a day and it helps....truly. He BEGS for it sometimes. I HIGHLY recommend it. Also, in the winter, when it's at his worse, the DR said bathe him every third day because water dries out the skin. So that's what I do (unless he is real dirst for some reason..he is five). I hated that at first, not bathing him at least every other day, but it helps him so much and I feel terrible for him because of his dry skin...it is just awful!

Well I will let you guys know what the dermatologist suggests for this issue. J.R.'s torso feels like reptile skin and to make matters worse, he has dandruff and now his hair is falling out in clumps! So, we are off to the dermatologist on Thurs. I will let you guys know what he suggests!!! Wish us luck, I'd hate to have to cut all his beautiful black hair off!

We have been going through the same thing for the last 2 1/2 years since we brought our daughter home. The dr. said to use Aveeno, but that didn't really work. The Cetaphyl hasn't really helped either. There was a J&J Calming Lotion that seemed to work pretty good, but I haven't been able to find it since we ran out. I limit the showers, I know, I hated it too, but that does seem to help! My DD will be 9 yrs. old in a few weeks (we brought her home at 6 1/2) and it is definitely worse in the winter, but the dry skin is pretty much all year long! I am going to try the hydrolatum!!

Thank you!

Linda

Wink dry skin

my daughter has the same problem. try using Aveeno bath soap for the bath and then lotion for afterwards. Another thing you might want to try is using dreft when when washing your child's clothes. that may help also.

Good luck.

As a last resort if all else fails....Mimyx cream - Dual Action.

My daughter has horrible eczema/dry skin and is allergic to everything I put on her skin. This is super expensive 140 grams is like $70. But it does the trick and a little goes a long way. As I recall it came out beginning of 2006 and a lot of doctors aren't familiar with it.
