OT: Where should we go for Spring Break??

We are thinking of a long weekend trip in March during Jacob's Spring Break.

We live in Missouri and would like to find a road trip to somewhere within no more than a 10 hour drive.

A beach would be GREAT, but not sure if that's possible. We are considering Destin, but it is a little longer of a drive than we want. Somewhere in Texas might work...

Anyone have any suggestions for a family of 4 with a 6 year old and a 2 year old?

THANKS!!

We're headed to the Florida Keys....come with us!!

I don't know if you'll be able to find warm beaches that time of year in northern Florida...it has always been my experience that it is not warm enough for swimming, etc. in the northern parts of FL.

This one will probably surprise you, but how about Chicago? It's not a beach town, but it's a real nice city and they seem to have a lot for kids. I was there in July and the weather was just perfect. I remember them having a science museum and the Navy Pier appealing to kids. Just a different perspective on things....

Your family might enjoy Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky. It's in a nice area and it's fun to explore. You could also swing down to Nashville from there.

We just got back on Saturday from a cruise to the Bahamas, as well as to Key West! It was a nice vacation, but too cold to spend any time in the water.

Have fun with Parkersito! I hope the weather is nice for you then!!

Thanks for the ideas - I will check them out!

Anyone have any more ideas? I like to have options!

I don't know how far you are from Arkansas, but the Ozarks and Eureka Springs might not be far. I can't think of anything very fun in Texas, although our weather will surely be nice. Grapevine Texas has some nice things, as does the Fort Worth area. I would say that might be more fun for adults.

But I would suggest Eureka Springs/Ozarks. The weather should be in the 50s, 60s. Maybe even warmer.

We'll be in Gulf Shores for Spring Break the beginning of April. This will be the 13th year for us - we love it!!!! We relax at the beach, shop at the outlet mall, eat Beignets, get ice cream cones at Scoops, play mini golf at BlackBeards and ride the go-carts at The Track (love the 3-story high "Woody"). The weather is usually beautiful for us, but not super hot. We do lay out on the beach, but it cools down enough at night to need a sweatshirt (though the locals think it is a bit cooler than we do since we are coming from the MI).

Love, Shelly

Where do you stay?
I am looking at vrbo.com and searching Trip Advisor for some good reviews... but I'd love to hear first hand experience!!
THANKS!
