When I was pregnant with my son, I loved the song by Selena called Thinking of You and I listened to it incessently. As he grew I told him I used to sing it to him when he was in my belly and I even did the old headphones on the belly thing!! He loves the song now. It is our special song - something just for us. I even printed the lyrics on some pretty paper and framed it for his room. I decided I wanted to do this for my girl. So I am sitting here compiling a playlist on itunes and thought it might be fun to ask my FF for their ideas.

So... are there any songs that you associate with your baby/child or songs that just speak to you about this whole adoption process? Is there a song that you listen to while you are online? Is there a song with the same name as your baby?

There is a beautiful song that I love by Michael McClean called "from God's arms, to my arms, to yours". It is from the birthmoms point of view and is so touching. I also love the song from Tarzan, can't think of the name.

thats a good ? i am going to think about that now i did a slide show and we used "we are family" and "Picture" from gods arms to mine to yours I no this it no the name but its line in the song. MMM

There is a great song about Guatemalan adoption that I love. The lyrics speak of going to a land far away and it's a land of wild jungles and live volcano's, bright colors and shining rainbows. It talks about how they are now a family and how they can't know everything about where she came from but they also don't know all of where she is going.

OMG STEPHANIE!!!! Trust you to have this song!!! This is awesome. Could a song get any more perfect than that? I'm still sitting here compiling my itunes list, crying listening to Say A Little Prayer for You by the big D. Wow. Come on everyone, you've GOT to have a song you want to share!!!

After i adopted my son from Russia, we had the song "because you loved me" it is not an adoption song but it just fit. I will have to find one for my daughter in a few more weeks.

THe name of that some is EVERYDAY. I used it for my daughter's slide show. I LOVE that song too!!!

Nickelback has a song "Far Away"
I cry like a baby everytime I hear it.
We heard "My Maria" by Brooks and Dunn this morning in the school drop off line and that is also one of Kate's songs (Dulce Maria) so I was crying again!!
My mom started singing it to her on the 1st visit trip and it just stuck.
Rascal Flatts has a song "My wish" and I love the part when they sing "I hope you never look back, but you never forget all the ones that loved you and the place you left...."
I am crying now!!
The Nickelback song is really the major one though.

My song for my son is Gonna Be by Reba McEntire. It talks about a mother's love for her baby. I heard this on my way to my mother's house after meeting with my social worker to get John's referral packet. I was sitting in traffic on the highway staring at his picture and this song came on. I burst into tears. Ironically, it was the first and only time I ever heard it on the radio.

I also love Yours by Michael Mclean, My Wish and Blessed the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts, Catie Curtis has some good songs too.

My favorite song is Beauty and the Beast, My Heart Will Go On, You're Beautiful...oh wait...nevermind, those are the songs I hear everyday on PGN's hold...HA HA! (although now I don't think of the Titantic, I think of PGN!)
