I had never heard of the name Dulce before our daugher. Anyways, I am suprised at how popular it is. Does anyone know why? I always thought it was kind of a Catholic thing in reference to the blessed Virgin.
But, when I was in Guat. there were so many little Dulce's and one of the mom's mentioned there was a Dulce Maria pop star in Mexico.
So what do you guys think?
It is just a trendy name, or is it a classic that got trendy again?
I love the name and really wish we would have kept it as a middle name.

My daughter's birth name is Dulce Maria and we are keeping it.

We weren't at first but then dh told me he loved the name and how it flowed with our last name. So we are keeping her name.

Our daughter is also "Dulce Maria". We haven't decided how we will use her name, but love it! Our oldest daughter is set on naming her Laurali(from the Gilmore Girls show). That would be a mouthful

Dulce simply means sweet. So Dulce Maria is Sweet Mary. That's a fairly common thing Catholics say in reference to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Count us in! Our DD birth name is also Dulce Maria. We chose to change it to Ana Sophia.

Well, I have a twist here. We have a Dulce Samanta. We named her Brielle Samanta - very unusual due to her first name and her middle name doesn't have the "h".

Us too...we kept only a part of the name by using Marie as her new middle name. I think Dulce Maria is a beautiful name if pronounced correctly, but it simply didn't work with our clunky German last name.

I've heard that this is a "Jane Smith" kind of name in Latin American countries.

i like the name but it wouldnt have flowed with our last name either. (our little girl was given a first name of angela, no middle by someone other than bmom).
