can you bring strollers in the embassy?
OK, I am thinking ahead. I asked my agency today if strollers were allowed in the embassy and they said "No". Is this the case? Sometimes when they do not know the answer they just say "no" to make it easier on them.
Now if I could only get our lawyer to submit us to the embassy! UGH!! Thanks for the help!

You can bring very little into the Embassy. I didn't inquire about a stroller, but it doesn't surprise me that you can't. There are no electronics, cell phones, camera's etc. You go through a security check point very much like the airports.

Sure you can. Except the it will get in the way beccause it's crowded in there. I think we took an umbroller type one and ended folding it and putting it under our seats.
The Embassy looks like the DMV, with about 10 rows of chairs, about 8 seats across each. If you end up jammed in the middle of a row, you have to keep your baby on your lap, as you can't get a stroller through. If you stand on the end of an aisle, you have to keep moving to let people get to the windows and in and out the door. Then they call you into a small room for the final step, so bringing a stroller in there would be a hassle. The best bet is to gwt an end seat and fold the stroller if it gets crowded. Also, we snagged the little plastic package of Cheerios they gave us on the plane and brought that to keep our son busy, plus some small toys. Good luck. It's crowded and nerve-wracking waiting for the final okay, but it's the final step, so that helps. Rachael

I saw a stroller when I was there in October, but the child in the stroller was older and special-needs, so I'm not sure whether they made an exception for him.
I didn't find that I missed having a stroller. I'd see this as a "what if everyone did that" kind of thing. If there were more than a few strollers in there, it would get out of control pretty quickly, so that may be why your agency is saying "no." Another consideration is that you have to walk over pretty uneven pavement on your way to the embassy building, so pushing a stroller over the ground would be harder than just carrying an infant.

we saw maybe one stroller in there. No room really. I would have been uncomfortable dealing with one.

We took one. It was just an umbrella stroller and our daughter was a VERY bust 17month old and it kept her contained. NO room to walk around and it realy got in the way. I wouldn't suggest doing it unless you really can't Hold your child. Also the gaurds at the gate gave us a little "eye ball action" for trying to get it through the gates...
Safe travels... Ann

We just had our embassy appt. on Nov 16 and there were a few strollers there including mine. I had an umbrella stroller. We used ours. My son was 9 months old and took a nap in his. I could also push him back and forth in place becuase he liked the movement. I saw a few others with strollers and their babies napping as well. The hardest part is getting through security because you would need someone to put the stroller through the detector and then someone else to carry the baby. There are also some steps to get into the building. We strolled our little guy to the embassy and then carried the stroller until we got inside and through security. In the embassy once you walk in the doors if you go to the left and walk to the back there is a bigger room with less chairs and more open space. That's where I sat with the others who had strollers. I didn't feel cramped or felt as if the stroller was in the way at all.

We used our ergo baby carrier. We were the last to get out of there and it was great to be able to walk a bit with dd, a stroller would have been a hassle to manuever as it was crowded.

We took a Snugli and in retrospect are very glad we did so. Taking a stroller would have been a huge hassle. There is no room for them. A couple who took theirs leaned over and told us they should have left it at home especially when he tried manuevering it into the little room where you are asked questions.

When we were there the place was mobbed. I think it would have been hard to get the stroller through the security area. Isabelle did fine with us rotating the carrying.

I wouldn't bring one. You will get nasty looks. We brought one but our agency told us we needed to leave it in the car. When we got in and it was packed w/ no room to walk you could see the couple of people that insisted bringing them in got nasty looks. They inconvenienced everyone as they tried to move around in them.

I'd wait to see if your child really likes the stroller or not. We took our small umbrella stroller because Iva loved it and would sit for hours or fall asleep in it. It kept her happy during the wait which is all I cared about.
Who cares if it is crowded or you "get looks"--which we didn't, BTW? Almost everyone there is excited and happy about their situation--they don't give a darn about you or how much space a stroller is taking up. Good luck and congrats!

I don't know if they have changed their policy since Septmeber , but we brought in a Combi Stroller for our Embassy appt. I folded it up and carried it in and then opened it back up for my daughter to sit in. Yes- it is very crowded and there's not space to push it around really but if your child needs to nap- which ours did- it was wonderful to have!!!! Plus , my little princess was pushing 25 lbs and I couldn't possibly hold her for 2+ hours!!!!
