So sick of the incompetence! (long vent...sorry)
Warning: I'm a little worked up right now and this might be a little more expressive than some care for.
I just got done reading isabella123's story about the nightmare she is going through. And there are so many other similar stories of incompetence, communication breakdowns and outright lies. And I don't know if the agencies don't talk to the attornies enough or if the attornies aren't on top of the cases as they should be or if it all gets lost in translation. But in my opinion, WE PAY THESE PEOPLE WAY TOO MUCH MONEY for these kinds of mistakes! I don't know about the rest of you, but for us, figuring out the financing of this adoption has been one of the major stressors of the process. And I know it's not about the money. We all just want our children home. But my point is, to pay this kind of money which they go out of their way to explain is considered to be earned for services rendered, I expect to receive some pretty freakin' **** good service! Accurate and reliable information in a timely fashion is the MINIMUM we should all receive. And if they don't provide satisfactory service then financial consideration SHOULD be given. If I'm not getting full service then I shouldn't be expected to pay full price! I understand mistakes happen. They happen all the time. But for 20+ or 30+ grand, I expect somebody to be able to spell my freakin' name correctly--especially when they've got about 50 different documents with it spelled correctly right in front of them! If you can get through law school, surely you can copy a word from one document to another. And for the love of God, don't ask me to recreate documents that YOU screwed up. Those are the services I'm paying for. YOU screwed it up. YOU fix it and tell me where to sign it. It's complete and utter BS. I mean, how many adoptions does an attorney have to complete in a year to gross $100K? 10? 12? That's one per month. Give me a freakin' break. These people bank on our emotional attachment and they take advantage of us. Again, it's too much freakin' money for us to have to babysit their work and do their jobs for them! I'm sorry. I just had to get that off my chest. It's been driving me nuts through this whole process. I am so tired of seeing emotionally taxed people being bent over and not receiving the most basic level of services that they are paying for. Thanks for letting me vent.

I agree. I often get upset when I hear of agencies or attorneys not treating people well. We are paying for a service and for the amount they are being compensated, they should provide flawless customer service and work hard to keep us happy. Obviously there are things they can't control (PGN, FC, etc) but it isn't too much to expect good and accurate communication and competent service.

I could not have said it better myself. I have been given misinformation or just plain no information at all. I am paying for a service, so I do not understand that when I ask a question, I not only not get the answer, I get no response whats so ever. My agency found out I was calling PGN myself at which I got my hands smacked as apparently it is part of my contract NOT to call. As far as I am concerned, if they don't give me the info I am entitled to, then I am entitled to get it myself. From this post, I can see this is happening to many of us. All I am asking is for them to communicate with me...good or bad.

I have been lucky with my lawyer. He communicates very well and has been on top of everything since day one. I just had to write and let you all know how sorry I am that you have had this happen. I would definately be upset if I did not get the service I expected. ((HUGS))

Ashley, i am right there with you I have been trying to get information from my agency on our kickout and dates for over a month and I still dont have the correct information. It is SOOOOOO frustrating and i was told our file was back in PGn 10/2 but then I found out last week that it was back in on 11/5 and I was fit to be tied. Its like a a three ring circus.
I WANT OUT and off this rollercoaster. PLEASE PLEASE God, get our file approved and out of PGN now.

I agree with you. Our process is almost over, but during our time with our aty in Guat I felt the same way. For me I guess I expect too much. If I did my job that SLOPPY, I would be fired............................

I agree 110%.... We went through 2 long processes... with very little information...unless of course I got it through other channels... Why should anyone HAVE to call pgn on their own dime???
Let's see.... if we as lowly non-adoption professionals can call...hmmm... I wonder if those who are getting paid to represent us could call... I mean like once a month or so.... I mean, I dont need my hand held...but at least you could acknowledge that our case exists in the system... I am sooo thankful that I dont have angency woes this time around..... it is sooo much stress gone....

It seems since there are so few cases now, the level of service should be much better.
Just my thought.

I am with a big agency, and I know people who love them and people who are furious at them.
As for me, when Liana's DNA drama started, they got me on conference calls with genetics labs to explain what was going on, conference calls with my lawyer to discuss the implications, and basically went out of their way to make a dreadful situation at least clear. Sometimes they were late returning normal phone calls. But they were there for me when it mattered. I feel lucky.

I don't often post, but read regularly. But I had to log in to say I agree completely.
I chose an experienced, respected agency but frankly I've gotten better customer service at a fast food drive thru window. Last week I received a nasty e-mail, not from my case manager, but from the director! I cannot believe the lack of basic customer service offered by these people. And it's not the amount of money I've invested, it's that they don't seem to understand that they are "dealing" in real lives - not hamburgers! There's just a general lack of caring. There's not a darn thing I can do about it...except wait. Thank God pink notices are coming directly to us now so I don't have to worry about them screwing that up, too. |

I could not agree with you any more! very well said, I feel, no, I know, we have lost time because someone messed up somewhere along the line or they are just dragging their feet. Our DD is now 9 months old and still in PGN, we never thought this process would be so long, well we knew it was but I guess I should say I was hoping to have our DD home at 7 or 8 months, like most seem to. We feel so hopeless in this situation because they have our money and still drag their feet or feel there is no hurry to rush things and DD comes home when she comes home, I'm so sick of hearing that, I could scream and actually have!
