4 yr olds and naps

I am just curious if there are any 4 yr olds that still nap or have quiet time in their rooms for a period of time during the day (and how long is that time period)?

DD just turned 4 and DS (been home 5 weeks) turns 1 this week. I am seriously considering having my 4 yr old nap or have quiet time in her room while DS takes his nap. For two reasons...I think she needs it/could benefit from it and honestly I need a little bit of a break during the day. I am a single mom and work PT as a nanny every other week (I bring my kids to work with me). I go back to work today in fact from being off for 6 weeks. I am very thankful it is only Part-time at this point.

I can give it a try and see how it goes. Just wondering what others do with their older toddlers. Thanks.

Our son just turned 5 and he still naps most days. Especially at Daycare they always have a quiet time and most days he does nap. The days he goes to day care he is up early and we can tell those days when he didn't get a nap in. As for the length, At daycare it is usually an hour to 1 1/2 hours, at home it may be a couple of hours. Our son usually gets up around 6am and often gets to bed around 8:30 at night so a nap still seems right.

Our DD napped everyday up unitl kidergarten this year. Yet she was up until midnight because of napping. Since she has been in Kidergarten she comes home from school and goes to sleep between 5-8 and doesn't wake until school the next day.

Castle is 3 1/2 and still takes about an 1 1/2-2 hour nap everyday around 2:00 in the afternoon (except on t-t when she is at Mother's Day Out when they sleep eariler) We also have two older, 17 and 13 year old boys who napped until they started 1st grade. I think you are right when you said they need quite time as well as the adult needing it! Even now my sons will go to their rooms and turn the tv off and just chill for a few minutes.

I have a 4 year old who has quiet time/nap time at daycare, on the weekends she doesn't want to nap. Since my 3 and 4 year olds share a bedroom I don't want the 4 year old disturbing the 3 year old so I send the 4 year old to my bedroom. I will turn the tv on for her but on something she's not interested in like football on Sunday's. That way she normally falls asleep just laying there and stays asleep for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

I really try to make her nap or at least lay quietly for at least an hour. I really notice a difference in her in the evening if she skips this nap/quiet time.

My DS is 4 1/2 and naps probably 2 out of 7 days...but then stays up way too late. He has quiet time everyday in his room, on his bed with books or small toys for an hour if he doesn't nap. I love my kids dearly, but Mommy needs the break!

We just brought home our DS in August and he is 4 1/2. I have no idea what his schedule was in Guat (in an hogar that wouldn't allow us to visit or speak with them) but I put him on an hour quiet time in his room during the first hour of DD's nap. We were having big time behavior issues not long after he came home so I made him start spending the hour in the bed without books, toys, etc if we were having issues that day and more often than not now he actually naps an hour or two. He is usually much better after the nap.

Parker turned 5 in September so he is still in preschool. He naps most days there! On weekends he does not take a nap.

My son and his best friend stopped napping at 2. However his other friend still naps every day for 3 hours (he is now 5) and still is down for the night at 8 pm-I am so jeoulous-sure could use that down time!
