Excited for visit but SCARED too...

Hey y'all. I am looking for some reassurance and support and this is the best place I know of for both!
DH and I are going for our second visit in three weeks. The first visit was wonderful. Will was two months old and very easy to care for. He slept, ate, cuddled...two month olds don't do a whole lot!
He will be 7 months for our next visit. I fear that by now he is so attached to his FM that he will be afraid of us. What if he has serious stranger anxiety? What if he screams and cries and is miserable with us? We are first time parents so we're the typical anxious, nervous anyway.
I'm not worried about what to pack, what to feed, diapering...etc. I feel confident about meeting his physical needs. But I am so VERY afraid about satisfying his emotional needs...

Ashley--It is scary! DH and I saw DS at 2mo old at Xmas, then didn't get to go back till 5mo old, at Easter, and I was so worried. He did fine! Then we were away till the end of May, when he was 7mo old, and when I went back, he did fine then, too.

Altho every child is different, I really think at 7mo he'll be ok. He may be starting to recognize his caregivers, but he's not inflexible yet.

Please let us know how it goes!

I think you might be surprised. On our second visit, our daughter was 9 months old and she was great with us. Slept thru the nights, ate well and seemed very happy. We should be going for pick up in the next few weeks and she is almost 1 now. I have the same concerns, but we will deal with it. Most of the children I've seen on our visit trips seem to adjust very well. Good luck to you and don't stress, just enjoy!!

Our son was 6 1/2 months on our visit and had only a few "bad" hours the first night. The rest of the visit he did great.

Our second visit was at 7 months also, and he was absolutely a dream. He was a lot more work, though! He was crawling and into his toys, so we were exhausted from playing with him. He was also eating some soft foods, so meals took a little more coordination.

Have a wonderful visit, and don't worry...you'll have a great time!

We went to visit our first referral when she was 7 1/2 months old. She cried some the first night, but I think she was hungry. Once her belly was full, she was wonderful. I still treasure that visit so much. We are also planing on visiting our new referral in mid Jan. I know every baby is different, so I am also a little nervous about how she might act. Deep down...I know everything will be great!

One important thing we figured out...Once we calmed down, fed her, and just loved on her (which was easy to do) she calmed down too.

I just know your trip will be wonderful and priceless!

Our second visit was at 7 months and Jamie was great with us. It was so much more fun too - the first time we were there he was only 3 months old and slept most of the time. The second visit we got lots of smiles and playtime. Enjoy!

It is scary & I can totally understand you being worried. However, try hard not to be too anxious. Babies can sense when we're tense & will react to it --- usually by being fussy or moody themselves. Do your best to relax & enjoy every moment with your son. Try to take any bumps in the road in stride. I know, I know, easier said than done, but try.

Have a great trip!
