Why can I NEVER find these new updates?? All I see on the Guatemala page or Gautemala 5000 page is an update from 11/12 about the possible new legislation. Can someone post the link or what it says? Thanks!

November 26, 2007 The expected introduction, reading and vote on an adoption law into the Guatemala Congress this week will not take place. Joint Council has received reports that various protests outside of the Supreme Court, National Palace and Congress has resulted in a delay in the introduction. Apparently there are now concerns that President Berger may veto the bill if passed. It is our understanding that members of the Guatemalan Congress have requested a meeting with the Berger administration to ensure that if passed, President Berger will not veto the legislation. Joint Council will continue advocate for the passage of an adoption law that is functional, compliant and in the best interest of Guatemalan children. Joint Council will post updates on the progress of the legislation early next week.

Why would President Berger veto the legislation? Isn't he the one who wanted it passed? Am I missing something here?

I was just thinking the same thing...unless they're talking about him vetoing the bill with all the added amendments?? Who knows...sometimes I think this Congress doesn't want to decide this at all...maybe they are hoping to leave it up to the next Congress in January...

And the other post by Kansas Family said that instead of waiting til next January (after Berger is gone) they will instead hold a special session in Dec. ARE THEY TRYING TO KILL US?! Can one die of stress??? Seriously...
