My uncle who I really don't care for (has always been mean to me as a child) told me I should dye my hair to match Giuseppa's. I asked him why he would say that and his answer was...so people think it is your daughter!! HELLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO she is MY daughter I told him. She was born in my heart. I did not have the heart to tell DH. Cause he would be REALLLLYYYYYYY MAD and say a few choice words. I was soooo mad that I even told my dad that is brother is a piece of (fill in the blank). Thank GOD for my aunt (his wife) she gave him a piece of her mind too.

You gave him a good answer, and cheers for his wife for trying to set him straight.

Since you say he's always been mean to you, just chalk it up to him continuing the pattern, and try not to let him get a reaction out of you anymore. Easier said than done when there's years of hurt there, but perhaps if you just don't react to it anymore, he'll give up and look for someone else to pick on in the future.

We had the same thing happen. A friend of DH said "Sarah should dye her hair dark if she's going to pass Dayne off as hers!"

I guess I'm just thick skinned, but someone did tell me that very same thing and I laughed. Another person asked me if I was going to tell the baby she is adopted. I tole them that it would be pretty hard to hide since I'm 56 and look nothing like her. It's the same stupidity all over.

Interesting! Out of my three bio kids, only one even comes close to resembling me and even then it's not that much of a resemblance. I have dark brown hair (okay, it's been blonde for years now to hide the gray) and my two older boys have sandy blonde hair. I have dark brown eyes and only 2 of my kids have brown eyes. I'm short and need to take off some weight, two are tall and thin and the youngest is medium height with an average build. I have a fair to medium skin tone and my youngest has a darker olive skin tone. When it is just me with the three of them, I really don't think anyone would know they are my bio children. So, what makes your uncle think that coloring your hair will make you look more like your daughter and further more, who really cares? Being a mom has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not your child looks like you. I think his comment did nothing more than prove his ignorance.
