Senator Norm Coleman Traveling to Guatemala!
I just got an email from our agency stating that Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN) is traveling to Guatemala the day after Thanksgiving to speak with Guatemalan officials on what will happen to in process cases. His brother in law is adopting from Guatemala and is in process, so he definately has a vested interest in how this will be handled. He is taking down the names of 40 some families from MN that are currently in process. I am encouraged to see him taking such an active role.
Here is a link to an article...if this is not allowed, I apologize and please remove the post. wcco.com - Minnesota Wire

Senator Coleman has been a huge proponent of adoption over the last several years. In fact, his office assisted our case as we ran into some issues within the Embassy.
It's also encouraging that each year - this year on 12/8 - Senator Coleman hosts a "Celebration of Adoption" reception. We just got our invitation a few days ago. If anyone in Minnesota is interested in learning more about it, I suggest that you call his office for more information. |

Way to go Norm!!!! His office has always been great during our adoption in 2003. And we have been to his Holiday Celebrations almost every year. MN Sen Amy Klobuchar is also showing some interest in the adoption situation in Guatemala also. Unlike her Predecessor Mark Dayton who's staff was totally clueless.
Does anyone have any info on what the new rules are going to be or when they may be implemented? We were hoping to start in 2008 with a second adoption but am holding our breath. |
