The movie "Bella" set to release 10/26!

I have learned that the new movie, "Bella", after long delays is set to be released across the country on 10/26. Although I haven't seen it, I have spoken to others that have watched it in pre-release screenings and have been told it is a very powerful, very pro-adoption movie. You can view a trailer at Welcome to Bellathemovie.com : Home of Bella, Winner of the People's Choice Award at Toronto Film Festival.

In viewing their website, it looks like it is set for a limited release, with some cities' release set for 11/2.

I can't wait, I hope it comes to Phoenix, Otherwise I guess I'll have to wait until it comes out on video.

That sounds great!!!
Speaking of pro-adoption movies, I caught a preview last night of a movie with John Cusak (sp?) called "Martian Child"-and I'm just about sure it's to do with some kind of domestic adoption. Just the clip I saw, the child must have done something and Cusak leans over and says, "nothing you could ever do would EVER make me not love you." And I burst into tears right there--I can't wait to see this movie!!!

I thumbed through the book Martian Child at Borders, and it is about a gay man adopting a child that social services has given up on. It will probably be known more for the gay aspect rather than the adoption aspect but I think it is pro-adoption.

It looks like the release of "Bella" will be in all major cities, although there will be a staggered start, with some not receiving it until 11/2. I believe Phoenix was on the list!

Martian Child

I've read this book and didn't think it had a slant towards gay adoption at all. It's the story of a single man trying to complete a domestic adoption of an older boy who had many unfortunate issues. It was a very engaging read.

(BTW, the author is a somewhat renowned science fiction writer who may be most famous for the original Star Trek series episode titled "The Trouble with Tribbles"--yes, I'm possibly dating myself here, LOL.)

Awesome movie!

I went to a screening of Bella last week. It was amazing. I didn't know anything about the movie and was so surprised to see a movie that was very pro-adoption. It was a beautiful movie. I hope many of you will try to see it -- as an effort to promote adoption and support the makers of this movie. Bring lots of friends -- and bring some tissues!

Loved it. Loved it. Loved it.

Must see movie!!

I have a number of friends who have seen this and all were blown away. Very pro-adoption and an incredibly compelling story. It is my understanding the actor who plays the lead role is Central American ( and very handsome!!!) and is personally very passionate about the issue.

I can't wait to see it!!! I also think this is the kind of movie where you could invite friends or family who might have some misconceptions about adoption, it might touch their hearts.

I second what Laura said and wanted to add that you should check your local listings again because it just got to Indianapolis this weekend. It's also only in about 10 theaters, so go the Bella web site to check out the cities and theaters. My husband and I both LOVED it.
