When I heard that the situation in Guatemala involved CQ my heart stopped. I'm so worried about Nicholas. I want him home with us.

Thank you Brandy and MicheleB for your encouragement so far. It really helped me calm down.

CQ has been around for a long time. I pray that things will be cleared up soon.

I wanted to pass along some information along that I have received (I have two boys in CQ) from the US Program Coordinator of Casa Quivira.

We were told that police did go to CQ and are believed to still be there, the babies are still being taken care of by the nannies at Casa Quivira.

Two attorneys (not the founders) have been arrested.

We have been asked to contact both the Guatemalan Embassador in the US and the US Embassy in Guatemala for their intervention and assistance.

I just received another update with a program coordinator for CQ. In a nutshell, here is what whe says:

Upon entering CQ the police were giving all documentation showing that it was legal for CQ to have the children in their care, as well as documents showing that the children were properly relinquished. The police interrogated the lawyers, nurse and nannies at the hogar. The police took many, many documents without looking them...including files of cases out of PGN, proof of cases legally in process, office logs etc...

The attrnys were arrested and roughly $1300 was paid for them to be kept at a hospital instead of a jail. Bond has been posted at approx. $15K.

The police were going to move the children out of CQ, but the staff physician at CQ stated that many babies need continual medical care (one of which is my little Gabe). For now all babies remain at CQ

I'll continue to update as I get info.

Catalina is currently at CQ. We are devastated to think of what might be happening there. We have received e-mails and talked with someone helping to communicate with the parents. We are supposed to be visiting in 3 DAYS!!!. After reading the e-mails form the Hogar’s contact we truly feel that they did nothing wrong. Right now we were told no one is coming in or out of the Hogar. Please pray for all the children, babies, nannies and families involved. I would love to hear if others have been in this situation and what the out come was, or even if you have heard of this happening before. My DH and I are in shock and desperate to hear that everything will be okay.
