I went to foster 4 July. DH came down 28 July. We went home together as a family 1 August. Our pink appt was 30 July.

When the heck is our gotcha day???

It is whatever you want it to be. We celebrate when we came home - even though I have my own private celebration on the day that he was put in my arms as (officially) my son.

I think the term Gotcha Day applies best to the adoptions in which the parents haven't been with the child before finalization, etc. For us, since we visited, and I went down for an extended pickup, and my DH came later (like you), we chose to celebrate our Home Forever Day as our anniversary.

Whatever feels right for you! My sister and I went down on the 12th but DH got there on the 14th (Valentines Day) so that is our 1st family day. For our second daughter we landed at home on August 30 and that was the first day all 4 of us were together so we consider that our second family day (we didnt bring the older one on the pick up trip -she met us at the airport). Really cool though is that August 30th was the 10 year anniversary of the day my DH proposed to me!

Basically, celebrate whatever feels right fo ryou!

My husband went by himself for the pick-up trip, so we celebrate the day that they actually came home as our Home Forever Day. He was able to go one day (which was the day our son was placed in his arms forever & was also our wedding anniversary), and miraculously come home the next, so both dates are obviously very special to us.

Our family day is the day my son and I returned to the US. Its an arbitrary day, but the day my son was physically home and meeting the cats and playing with his toys is the day we celebrate.

Incidently, it was an absolutely horrid day, with him throwing up all over me (I didn't pack a change of clothes for me in my carryon) and the Miami airport and not being able to get a cab (because I smelled) without agreeing to pay double the fare plus tip, it is the day we celebrate quietly. Now that my little guy is older, we remember his birthmom and his foster mom and our family.

For us, the day that dd flew home has other special significance to us, so that is what we chose.

Maybe if none of the dates you listed stand out more than any other, then choose the one that meant the most to you and Owen.

We celebrate ours as the day we got home.

We will celebrate ours on the day we came home and our sons met their sister. So it will be more of a "family day".

Pick up for our daughter was 9/9 - 9/12 our sons was 6 years later from 9/12 to 9/15. We picked 9/12 as our family day because it is a special day they share.
