The Truth finally comes out!!! (long)
Today I found out how my dad felt about our adoption. I was a bit shocked at first but I realized that he was worried about us. My father originally was against us adopting but never told us anything. He told us that he was afraid we would never bring her home. Today I was bringing him to the doctors for his 6 week post heart surgery check up. He sat in the back with Giuseppa and was playing with her. The ride to his doctors takes about 20 minutes. He kept playing and making her laugh. I turned around and made a comment to him saying teasingly "I guess you like her" He looks at me with tears in his eyes and says..."She is my life...I want to get better quicker for Giuseppa! I was afraid I was going to die and not see her grow up." and than he proceed to tell me how he was against us adopting because he was afraid that it would of not gone through or we might of gotten a sick child. And everytime we would of gotten updates he did not want to look at the pictures but did to make us happy. He said he could not let his heart get involved and he didn't. But the day we got home and he was at the airport to welcome us he said his heart melted the second he held her. So today he also told us that he loves her so much that his heart aches when he does not see her and can not wait to get the ok from the doctor for him to start holding her again. He is SOOOOOO much in love with her. I turned my face away from him so that way he would not see the tears rolling down my face. I feel so blessed to have awesome parents in my daughter's life.

THANK YOU GOD!! 6/08/07 Embassy appointment 6/11/07 Visa issued 6/12/07 Home FOREVER!!!

I have to turn my face away now too so you don't see the tears streaming down my face. What a sweet story! You are lucky to have him as a dad and your daughter is lucky she has such a sweet grandpa!!

I think that you'll find many grandparents in the same place! Whenever we hit a bump in the road - I'd call my mom and my dad would immediately turn the phone over...he so hated to see his child in pain! Like your little one, Flora is the light of his life (and she's named after HIS mother!)
It's almost like there is a sigh of relief when the child comes home! I hope your dad continues to heal and that the two of them have wonderful Grandpa/Grandchild relationship! You are blessed!

That is so sweet.. How blessed you are to have your Dad there to love your baby girl.. I know my Dad would have been head over heels for Bryce and Sofie too and have to believe that he is smiling down on them and loving them from afar..

That is so sweet, and sounds very familiar to my dad. He was very discouraging when we were going through the wait to bring our son home, but now he and Matthew are inseparable. It's amazing to see them together.
