ok, i'd like to see what kind of bc different states give for an international adoption(i dont think it matters from which country). please 1)post your state (if you are comfortable), and 2)what the new state bc says at the top, and 3) if you readopted in your state first. in the last thread we already got a few examples....most seemed to include the words "delayed registration" or "foreign."


I'll start:

1. California

2. "Court Ordered Delayed Registration of Birth"

3. Came home on IR-3, readopted in CA also

1) KY
2) says "Certificate of Foreign Birth"--looks very nice; on bluish color stock, some red and pinks in it like a watercolor or watermark. Not generic at all
3) came home on IR4 in Feb. 05-readopted official on Oct 10, '05 in KY

We readopted in Ohio, and we have a normal birth certificate like my biological son. The only difference is it says she was born in Guatemala. Other than that, no difference.

Here's for both of my kids:

1) PA
2) Regular BC, only difference is the country of birth is listed. The top says CERTIFICATION OF BIRTH.
3) Readoption completed at Courthouse -- I completed the 1st with attorney and the 2nd I completed myself!

We're also from Ohio and received the same. Ours says our son was born in Russia and the attending doctor, etc. is left blank (that info wasn't recorded on his Russian certificate), but other than that it looks like a normal Ohio birth certificate.

The only difference is that to get copies, we have to send away to the "all Ohio" database. It is not on record at the county courthouse like a born-in-the-county child's would be.

2. Says State of Michigan Certificate of Live Birth, at the top like a 'regular' one, and has Delayed Foreign Birth below that and right above the name, date, etc. Place of birth is listed as Guatemala.
3. IR3. Michigan does not have any provisions for readoption. We did legal name changes through our county.

Kansas -Just says Certificate of Birth at the top.

Lists Guatemala as birthplace.

Does say in big letters at the bottom that it is not proof of citizenship.

I don't have any bio's to compare too and I wasn't born in Kansas so can't tell the difference. IR-3 and recognition done.
