Starting process...Guatemala agency recommendations?
Hello,

Welcome to the forums and the chaos. I don't have an agency to recommend to you because my agency has stopped taking new families in its Guatemala program.
But let me give you two pieces of contradictory advise. Research research research. Understand that this a very scary time to be starting an adoption in Guatemala, and make sure that you understand the Hague, the potential upcoming changes within the Guatemalan system, and go in with your eyes open. Make sure you work with a solid agency that has a strong history and who you trust completely. Agencies that promise you that it will be easy are lying. Move Fast. Many changes are going to take place in the next few months. If you approved by the US side (approved I600a) before the changes take place, you will be grandfathered in under the old system by the US. If you hit a milestone picked by Guatemala, (maybe Power of Attorney, maybe PGN) before the new system takes place, you will probably be grandfathered in under the old system. Oh. One more piece of advice. Select an agency that works with a country other than Guatemala that you are interested in, in case Guatemala cease to be an option. Good luck! Keep us posted!
