Metro New Yorkers Unite (for a picnic we hope)!!
Hey Metro New Yorkers (and any others willing to travel) - Kristen (nykrissy), Natalie (nattyloo) and I would like to spend some time with you all this summer!
Seriously, if there is enough interest, the three of us thought it would be great to have a NY area picnic with our forum and other Guatemala adoption friends and their families (whether or not your little ones are home yet). We are thinking of either August 18th or 25th as the date for the festivities. Also, the three of us live in Westchester and could host in either upper Westchester (where there is a pool); mid Westchester (no pool but a swingset) or we could find a park more convenient for everyone. So, now that you are all worked up and excited   - what should you do? Well, how about posting on this thread whether or not (i) you would be interested, (ii) where you are coming from (ie is Westchester doable or would you prefer closer to the city and how far north will you travel) and (iii) if only one of the potential dates would work for you, which one is it. I am trying to attach a poll for the dates but not sure that is going to be successful.  We hope to see you soon!!

That sounds great, but kind of far for me. I'm out on LI. I'm surprised at how many New Yorkers there even is on here!!
Edit: I just realized I guess that means I'm not a metro girl!

LI families are definitely metro NY. Depending on how far out on LI you are, Westchester is really not that far.

Hello...my son and I live in Ct., and I work in NYC. But I am off for the summer (yes I work in they nyc schools!) so I would love to join you! Anywhere in Westchester is good for me!

I'm also in Nassau County (hi, Natalie1125--glad you still come on by) & would love to participate. Most of Westchester should work for us. Riverside Park or Central Park would also be fine. Thanks for offering to plan this; I was getting jealous of the OH people...

Oh I am sooo jealous. I would love to come. I haven't been to NY in 2 years and am missing it terribly but alas I used up all my vacation time already this year.

We would love to come but could only come if it was on the 25th. We have family come in from out of town the weekend before that.
We are in the Syracuse NY area but would love to come down and see everyone!!!

Oh Man!!!! You guys are getting me so homesick for New York right now!!! I grew up in the Scarsdale/New Rochelle area of Westchester but now I'm in Ohio!! My family is still there! Hope you guys have some fun and post some pics!!!!!

Mea culpa - I should have labeled this tri-stater's unite. Of course residents of the fine states of NJ and CT are an integral part of the area gang! And to think I lived in NJ for 11 years before moving to Westchester and before that went to law school in CT. How quickly I forget my roots. My sincere apologies!
