Readoption in Virginia
I know there was a recent thread about readopting in VA. I read it & it got me thinking maybe I could do this on my own. I've looked online for our county's circuit court & couldn't find anything about readoption, so I called the circuit court's office. They patched me through to the woman who usually handles adoptions. She said that they've never handled a case like this in our county & that there weren't any forms or applications!!!! We live in a rural county, but come on! Anyway, I was wondering if there was ANYONE who has readopted in VA without an attorney & if you wouldn't mind bumping this & PMing me with exactly how you handled it. If there really is no precedence in my county, maybe I can blaze my own trail & they'll just go with it. BTW, I also want to do a name change at the same time & already have the form for that.
