I am so mad that we have to, again, pay more money that we were unaware of for the Certificate of Citizenship.
Here are some more questions for anyone who can answer them (thank you to DD Amasa for the link to the application)1) In plain english, what docs do I have to send in for it? 2) What is the deadline that we have to have the application in? Is it one year from when she entered the country? Do we have to send in for the C of C right away or can we wait? 3) When they send the C of C, do we get that packet from immigration back with it or do we have to send in for that separately? I suppose that costs MORE money? 4) When is this adoption's paperwork going to be DONE?!?!?!?!?

I know it seems like the paperwork will NEVER end, but you're almost there now. To answer your questions, as far as I know there's no "time limit" to submitting paperwork for your C of C. However, the fee will be going up at the end of this month from $215.00 to file to over $400.00!
My best advice for finding out exact paperwork and procedures for filing would be go to Home. The woman who runs it has prepared a packet you can download that gives a document list and instructions on how to fill out the application. She posted on another list recently and said she'd also be adding a filled out, "sample" form for people to use as a guide. As for the packet return, yes it's yet another form. I'd wait until you get your COC back before you request the packet back. Also, I believe that, for once, it's free. I just sent in COC forms for both of my boys at the beginning of March. Our oldest son has been home 3 years and our younger son will have been home 1 year at the end of this month. Hope this info helps and if you have any other questions, please pm me.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate the information. I normally really need things spelled out for me, and all that legal mumbo jumbo doesn't mean anything to me. Thanks a lot!
