ELI IS FFIINNAALLLLYY WALKING!!!! (and a funny Guatemalan wives-tale)
Today, at 17.5 months, he decided to take more than one step. first it was 13. i grabbed the camera, then it was 5, but i missed it. i set the camera up hoping to capture a few steps....and he took a few...and kept right on going!!!! after i filmed him, he spent the next hour walking everywhere...needless to say, he was sooo tired when i put him down for bed!!!
the funniest thing was today dh is in Guatemala...he spent the day with eli's foster family...and they told him i needed to crack an egg open and rub the inner side of the shell on his knee caps during the hottest part of the day in order to make his knees strong enough to walk. it wasn't an hour after I had repeated this story outloud, in his presence, that he decided to walk. my dad laughs and says that eli was like, "what? you are gonna do WHAT??...no way, fine, i'll walk." lol for anyone who cares to see what a giant looks like when he takes his first steps...here you go: YouTube - eli can walk nevermind the squealing in the background...or the bottle of hotsauce....it is what eli was going after so i moved it down low to coerce him over. it worked...what can i say  Last edited by mommytoEli : 05-27-2007 at 08:26 PM.

Too cute!!! It took a dog and 3 cats at 1 in the morning the night of our homecoming to coax Toby into walking.
 It's so nice you have it on video.

Your "wives tale" story reminds me of my kid sister. She was my parents' sixth kid, and the only one who wasn't walking everywhere by 11 months. (Though she would do it when she thought nobody was looking . . . weird kid.) This was the topic of discussion five days before her first birthday, when my mom said, "OK kid, you have five days to prove you're a [our surname]." Then she put her down and immediately the kid walked all the way across the room - as if she'd been doing it all her life. Kids are the best entertainment ever!

How fun for you to be able to get that on video. My brother walked late---he took a few steps and then ran everywhere he went. My poor mom. I was the good one---I took my first steps on Mother's Day. (what a little goody-goody. lol)
