Anyone buy a portable (mini) crib?

I need one for ALex when he finally gets here. He's going to stay in our room for a while and we don't have room for a full size crib. He'll be about 11 mos old.

Anyone use a smaller crib? I want one about the same height as a regular one but otherwise smaller. Of course, I want to make sure it's sturdy enough. Can you tell me a brand or your experience? Thanks.

We don't have what you described, in fact, I would be a bit nervous using a "regular crib" only smaller due to issues around stability and center of gravity. If he's an active guy you will probably be happier with the likes of a pack n play-- they have the same height sides as a normal crib but are low to the ground and smaller.

Check out the Arm's Reach co-sleeper. The regular size is still smaller than a regular crib, and they also have a 'mini'. I feel it is better than a pack and play because first, the platform is sturdier so larger babies don't 'roll' to the middle, and also one side can come down and it can attach directly to the grown up bed as kind of a side car for easy accessibility! Co-sleeping without actually having the baby IN the bed. They even make pretty sleigh models for those who care...

Hi Cheryl,

We just purchased a portable crib from Babies R Us. It's made by Delta Enterprise Corp. comes in the natural wood color. There's a picture online if you go to Babies R Us. The matress that came with it was very thin so we bought a little better one. They sell them right there in the store along with sheets that fit. We also discovered the the pack and play sheets (they're thicker) fits also and is a nice matress pad to put under the sheet.

Our daughter is 9 months old, she had outgrown the little infant bed we had her in...... Anyway, she just loves it! Small enough that it fits right next to our bed and it's on wheels so you can easily move it around. It's recommended for 0 - 24 months so I think we'll get a lot of use, and definately feel that it's sturdy enough. One side, the gate comes down so it's easier to get her in and out. Check it out, I think you'll like it.

We have a portable mini crib and I love it. Our dd, who is 2 1/2 still uses it occasionally for naps and our ds likes it better than a playyard to sit in when we need him to be contained for a few minutes!! It is small, but very effective. Our oldest dd, who is 3 1/3 started climbing out of it about the same time she started climing out of her regular crib, so I think they are just a effective and usable as a full size crib!! JMHO

Pack-N-Play

Hey!
We are on our 3rd little one and could not live without our pack-n-play! We used all over the house when they were little and then when we traveled they were used to it and slept well where ever we were. Might be a nice alternative to buying a mini crib ??
Good luck!
