5 month old baby out of PGN?

I saw a post on the Guatemalan list serv. The baby is 5 mos. old and out of PGN already. I don't get it. I really don't know what to think when I read something like that.

It's so hard to see people get out of PGN when you are waiting for your baby to come home. It is quite possible though that they had a long PGN wait but just entered PGN when the baby was younger. Sometimes people just get so darn lucky in the process. Hang in there....
Many Hugs

Our agency has had a couple of folks get out of PGN about 5 months from referral lately - but they've got us too. Two days from a year since referral and at least 3 months from getting out of PGN. I think even good agencies have cases that take forever. I sure wish I wasn't one of them, but I am.

It happens sometimes. I have no idea how I got so lucky, and why so many others wait excessively long times.

Yes, it does happen. I know how those of you feel that are waiting & waiting, but for some reason some people fly through. Even though its been '04 since our last adoption there were some at 3 months coming home.

I know it's got to be hard to see something like that when you've been waiting so long, but it IS possible. A lot of luck with no glitches will get someone an OUT at that age. If, by some miracle, Kevin makes it OUT in July (I know, I know), he will only be 5 months old. If my PA wait wasn't ridiculously long and was under 30 days like it used to be AND he got OUT within, say, 8 weeks, he'd be only 4 months old. I can play the if game all day, but I just want to say that it is possible...

It is frustrating... I think I have been caught in practically every long wait possible so far.

- 3+ months for I171H from Chicago (before referral though)
- then the massive slow down during the holidays
- A LOT longer than 30 days for PA
- now the agonizing trickle in PGN... (however, I am very thankful for no KOs yet)

I know many families have been stuck at various points as well --- I guess I just feel like griping right now.

When my baby does come home finally, she will look much younger though (now being just around 11 lbs at 6 months)...

As you can see from my signature line, I really like my agency. They have children who typically come home at 4.5 to 6 months old. They have had a few cases to take longer, but the longest one I know of was 9 months. I think that a lot of it is luck, but a LOT more is your agency and attorney in Guatemala. So, when I see babies that young coming home, my first thought is honestly, "well, they must have a good agency."

I have had the very long case and I have had two realitively short cases and now in the process of Lileigh's adoption. I have been on both ends of the spectrum, so I truly do understand how it feels to see other babies coming home so young while your child sits and waits and gets older and older. I know this sounds very Pollyana, but I truly believe that each child will come home when GOD says it is time, not before and not after. I don't think it makes the waiting any easier, but it is all part of HIS plan! JMHO.

Blessings

I'm very happy for the people that can bring their baby's home at such a young age but at the same time it is unfair for the people that are waiting so long to bring home their children. I am one of the cases that things have not gone right since the beginning and I hope that my stay in PGN is very short to make up for all the time I have lost with my baby. I just hope that my baby is home by the time she turns 1 she is 6 months old right know. Hoping and praying that we get into PGN very soon but it just does not look like that is going to happen. They are waiting to get the birthmom BC to enter. Who knows how long that will take. I'm planning on a while because that is just how my luck is going so far with this adoption. God Bless everyone.

I agree that it is really hard to see people get their babies home so young when it seems like your baby is just getting older and older. We entered PGN when Maya was 2 months and 1 week old however we are still in PGN and she is now 7 months old. I know we have a great agency. They got us into PGN so quickly but now it is just luck of the draw in PGN. Most of the babies with my agency come home between 4-6 months but I am not one of those lucky ones. It is hard to see. I agree. It doesn't mean that I am not happy for those families who bring their babies home so early, it is just hard.

From 171H to PINK for us was April 1 to July 26th, a little less than 4 months. We accepted our referral in December, so our baby was older when he came home, but our process only took a little less than 4 months.....So YES it does happen!

Believe me...I know how you feel...when we were visiting Josh at 10 months of age, there was a couple there going home with a 3 month old!!! They were in PGN 1 day! Crazy I know, but it was good too because the foster mother wasn't taking good care of the child so it worked out well, but still...it was frustrating to be visiting with a baby that's practically walking and seeing an infant going home...it's just the way it works sometimes I guess...

I would of been one of them if I did not get a KO from Barrios himself for a lousy hyphen. Giuseppa will be a little under 9 months (I hope) when she gets home. I just Thank God these children do come home and in a better enviroment.

Unfortunately the embassy is making it more and more unlikely that babies will come home at that age, but when it happens, we should all be THRILLED for those babies and families. I know the waiting is SO HARD at times but honestly I get tired of all the negativity on this forum directed toward families who have had a smooth process or at least smooth parts of the process. They shouldn't have to hide or feel guilty because they had an easier process than someone else. They should be able to rejoice and we with them. Our son was 2 mos old at referral and he came home at 8 months so our process went fairly smoothly. But a timeline does not tell the whole story. Just because parts of our process went very smoothly does not mean the process was easy.
