Hello

This is my first post to this forum. My wife is a regular around here. I just had to post b/c I am looking for some support. We've been waiting for our baby since our referral, 1 year ago. We were in PGN for 4 months with 3 stupid kick-outs (such as "you didn't submit this doc, whoops oh yes you did, oh well"). We finally get out of PGN and our agency is telling us "you'll get your appt in 2 days, next week, 2 more days. So my wife calls embassy. Two more days. They tell us we'll be gettin our appt today.

Know what we got? A form that says our fingerprints have expired! I could cry. I will cry. This is going to keep my wife in bed for another month. I feel like my baby's life is slipping away from us. I know this sounds dramatic, but I guess I feel like if you guys can't understand, who will?

Last time my wife went down to Guate she specifically asked our SW if our docs were current, and she said not to worry. I am wondering why we paid all this money to them!? Aren't they supposed to be our liason to this process? I know we're not the only family they are serving, but we are likely one of the ones in this the longest with them. You'd think they would keep an eye out for us. I am pissed.

And sad.

I just can't believe this has happened. I do not regret doing this b/c I love my boy...so much. He is all I've ever wanted and I would do the whole thing all over again. If I have to wait another year I will.

But every possible thing that could have gone wrong has. I feel like everyone lied to us.

I am sorry I am not adoption.com savy, If I have crossed any boundaries, I'm sorry. I have been on a few internet fora and I know their is a unique ettiquette to each one. I did not bother to read a few posts first, b/c I really needed to share this with others who understand.

I'll be getting up at the ungodly our of 4:30 am tomorrow to go down and get re-fingerprinted.

I'm sorry you're going through all this. The good news is that you're OUT of PGN, your son is officially yours, and you should be able to get re-fingerprinted soon. The bad news is that you shouldn't be in this position, of course, and that now your visa appt will have to wait for (hopefully) a few more days. It sounds like you didn't need an appt, which is also good. I hope you can bring your baby home VERY SOON. Good luck.

I'm sorry!! This whole process just borders on insanity sometimes!! The bad news is of course, you will have to get this fixed before you get pink, BUT, the good news is, if you go tomorrow you should have your required docs in hand within a week or two!! While it does delay you, hopefully it won't be but for a few days!! Praying it happens quickly for you.

I'm so sorry that this is happening to you. I wish you God speed in getting things fixed and your son home.

One of my pet peeves is that the 171H and the fingerprints have different expiration dates. Why do they have to make it so complicated?

Oh my gosh! I feel for you.

Just know you're doing all you can... get these prints done... and get on everybody's case until you get Pink!!! Hang in there.

I am so, so sorry! We had a similar experience, and the prints CAN get cleared quickly, and not hold you up too long. (I know that even one day is too long at this point!) Here is our timeline:

Friday 1/21/05 realized prints are expired
Tuesday 1/25/05 reprinted
Thursday 1/27/05 letter saying prints didn’t clear
Monday 1/31/05 reprinted
Wednesday 2/2/05 submitted for Pink
Monday 2/07/05 Pink

Go there and get reprinted, and confirm they get cabled to the Embassy, and then hound, hound, hound, your agency to make sure you are resubmitted ASAP!!

Welcome to the group ... there are a lot of other daddy's out there posting (i'm betting a few have already or will soon post to you). Yeah, I'd be pissed too ... and sad. It's really too bad ... the whole process is hard.

I hope you can get everything done quickly, get to your son, and THEN have a good yelling at with your agency!!!

Your post actually made me cry. I am so sorry you all are going through this. I have to admit though, that it is so nice to see a Daddy post and for him to share his feelings. I think that your agency has DEFINITELY dropped the ball here. If you are looking for someone to blame, you should start and stop at their front door. You contracted them to make sure things like this did NOT happen. Your little guy will be home very, very soon. I haven't been wrong yet, he he he.

You are at the finish line, just hang on a little longer.

Man, I wish you could swear on the forum because I would spew out several on your behalf. You have a right to be fuming angry at your agency, especially because your wife asked about updating documents. Furthermore, they absolutely should have been on the look out for an expiration of fingerprints for you and should have prompted you to have them redone a month ago. A red flag for fingerprints should go up any time a case is getting drawn out past 7 months.

Problem solving timeif you are like my husband, this is what you really want). The prints are taken as you read this. Call your agency and ask them what they intend to do to expedite this for you. Call them every day until you are issued pink. Every. Day. Every. Single. Day. They wronged you and your family, buddy.

As for your wife, I have something sort of fun I would like to send her. It might lift her spirits some. I hate the thought of her trapped in bed with kid-missing grief. PM with her name and address if you are interested.

Ugh. I am so sorry for you and lionbird. That is beyond awful and beyond frustrating. It is absolutely unacceptable! I would also do what others are suggesting - keep hounding your agency til they make things happen! Don't give up - you are so close to bringing that boy home!!
