you might already know the answers to some of these:

-are there any siblings? what age?
-what would you like dd and ds to know about you?
-any info about the birth fater?
-would you be interested in getting pics in the future?
-why did she place them for adoption (this may be a hard one to ask or it may not matter to you)

Oh how absolutely thrilling ... what an honor. I think she will be asking you a lot of questions ... If you want to you might want to ask her if she would like updated pictures of the twins - but there will be better posts as I did not have this opportunity. I imagine though that she will want to find out about you - you could bring pictures of your nursery - your home - you and your family - without revealing your home address (if that's how you want to proceed). Good luck - and yes, I think it's a great honor indeed and you might tell her that. - Barbara

Also - if she is amenable it would be great if you could get a picture of her and one of you all together - I think the babies will treasure it and so will you.

I was hoping to meet Benji's birth mother but it didn't happen. While I was thinking it would, I really wanted her to know that he would be much loved and well cared for, and wanted to get medical history from here. Others pointed out that she probably would not have had the medical information that I wanted.
So, I agree with others, let her know how much you will love your children, and ask about her and her life so they can know something about it. And I like the idea of asking what she wants them to know about her.
Enjoy! It will be tough, but so worth it for your kids. I can't wait to hear aobut it. (I know it's a ways away).

I think the most important thing I would like (other than medical of course) is what she would like our baby to know when she grows up and wants to know about her birth family. I would love to have a video or a letter from the birthmom to our little girl...but would have been really happy just to meet her. I think it would really help when/if she ever struggles with this.

You are very blessed! We aksed and asked to meet the birthmom but our agency said it is very rare the birthmom's want to meet the families.

When we met Mia's birthmother we asked the following:

- is there anything you'd like us to tell Mia when she gets older?
- info on birthfather
- what would she like to know about us

Since I knew in advance that we would be meeting I had filled a photo album with pictures for her. The first picture in the album was a copy of the DNA photo, then I had pictures from all of our monthly updates, our visit trips and then a picture of our house, her room, our yard and our other kids. And then I left quite a few pages blank in the back and I told her I would send more pictures in the future. She was absolutely thrilled and kept looking at the pictures over and over, I almost got the feeling that she had never seen a picture of Mia and herself before.

Don't get too stressed about the meeting, just enjoy the moment and take lots of pictures. I sent copies of the pictures I took when we met down to the birthmother after they were developed.

We met Sophia and Jeffs first mom and it was awesome and very emotional. I would have my list of questions. We did take lots of pics and I had an album from kodak gallery with captions in spanish. She can't read but at least someone could read them to her and her two older boys are learning to read. We also made an album with the pics from our meeting when we got back and sent that down with our agency to give to her so she has pics with all four of her children together.

I didn't do this and I am not sure if it would work or not, but again this is very emotional so I am not sure I wrote down all I wanted to etc. I wish I would have brought a little tape recorder to get her answers and the translations. Someday my kids might love to hear her voice telling them about her life and how much she loves them and why she made the choice she did.
