Talking Teeth?

I am a first time mom and my son's teeth are coming in. Drew's teeth are crooked (all 2 of them). My mom and some of my friends say that you have to wait for more of them to come in to tell what his smile is going to look like. Is this true? Or in your experiences, do crooked teeth stay crooked?
Nervous mommy,
Karen

Mikayla's two bottom teeth are a tad crooked as well and I am also concerned because she has an under-bite rather then an over-bite like she should have. I am not sure if this will adjust with age and I can't remember paying this close of attention to my son's teeth. So honestly...I have no answers at all but have the same concern!
Hugs

My kids' smiles have continually changed. As they get more teeth it can get a little crowded in there. Once they start getting their adult everything changes once again.

Sabrina's two front bottom teeth came in crooked - sort of in a V shape. From what I read in my baby book, apparantly this is common. When she got the two teeth next to those, they did straighten out.

Relax... There is nothing to worry about. Being a dentist, I see teeth coming in all different ways. There is no way of knowing what the teeth will wind up like until there are more that come in. Even with baby teeth coming in "crooked", does not mean braces in the future. If you have any ?'s, please PM me.

Most babies teeth come in a a touch crooked... baby teeth aren't what it is all about... My oldest son had moved his teeth around via his pacifer... when I took him to a dentist at age 3 the dentist said , "Does he sleep with a pacifer?"
"Yes"
"Well he has moved his teeth you should throw it in the trash"
"Will it fix his teeth?"
"No," said the dentist.
"So if I get rid of it....oh say, before he looses his little teeth and his adult set come in ...I will probably be fine, right?"
"Well yeah.. but you should throw out the pacifers."
We have a new dentist because that guy was a cranky sucker but even our new dentist said not to be concerned.
Hope this helps,
Tricia

Our girl's teeth came in a bit crooked as well, but we are more concerned about her latest medical report that stated "caries dental", or dental decay. We're not sure what this means, but we do know that somebody from our agency said that this is often due to poor prenatal nutrition. I didn't realize that this would affect teeth as they come in, but it stands to reason. This same person from our agency said that all of her daughter's teeth were capped by the age of 18 months. I'm concerned about how they do that comfortably for a small child---our girl will also be 18 months on June 3; and, as you can see by our timeline, she is not yet home.

Karar, do you mind if I ask you your opinion as a dentist? I'm hoping it will help others on this thread in the event that they have had similar reports on the medical exams. Thanks so much!

Lisa
