We are so excited! We received pictures of our son but are struggling to come up with the perfect name. We would like the name to have both a Spanish and American heritage. His given name I can not even pronounce. We love to hear any you may know or sights that are good for researching this.

We named our son Joaquin sounds like - wakeen (same was the actor Joaquin Pheonix, same name as Kelly Ripa's son). By the way I did not name him after those 2, they are just some famous people. We call him Jack. I like that it's different and Spanish.

PS. I also live in FL where there are alot of latinos. So it fits in great!

We struggled with names as well, and our son was given a very English sounding name that we weren't fond of. We decided to have his last name be his middle name, so as to have his name represent his Guatemalan and American heritage. HTH

We named our son Marco. Not very common in the US but it is Latin/Italian and since I am 1/2 Mexican and dh is Italian and ds is Guatemalan, we thought this was a perfect name.

Spanish speakers call him Ay-lee-us, ENglish onlys call him EE-lie-us, and he gets a cute nickname everyone says the same : Eli. I have seen a FEW referrals on waiting sites with this name, and have met a few little boys named elias here....so it is definitely a name in both countries, but not over used

we looked for the very thing you are saying. we wanted eli to have a foot in both worlds...something that could belong in Guatemala and the U.S....we found that in elias

You will find the perfect name. Our son is Antonio Manuel. We liked Antonio because it is dh's middle name and because it is the same in dh's latin culture and in my italian culture. Some will call him Antonio, some with call him Anthony. His middle name was dh's grandfather's name as well as Anthony's bmom's father's name which we thought was a nice way to keep something from his bmom.
