Investigations at the Embassy- PINK level?

We just got notice that we have not been forwarded for a pink slip, but rather put in investigation for an undetermined amount of time. Not only that, but they don't say why and they basically say "don't call us, we'll call you".

Is anyone else in this black hole and what do you know about this?

And we thought getting out of PGN was the last of the hard steps!

Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, you're in good company. Not only are people being pulled for investigation that are waiting for pink but others of us are going through the same thing waiting for PA.

If you find a good way to get info or get this resolved, please share it with me!

Oh Eleanor, I'm so sorry! I guess I haven't really heard of this. We are hoping to be submitted for pink next week so now I'm nervous. I can't believe they won't at least tell you why they need to investigate more.

I have heard of this happening before, and the family did get their pink within a couple weeks. The embassy is being pickier than usual due to all the controversary surrounding Guatemalan adoptions. Hopefully your lawyer and agency will find out more for you.
Good luck!

So sorry you are having to deal with this. I know it makes me (waiting for pink) very nervous as well. I get what they are trying to do, but after all of the hoops we jump through for PGN and every other part of this process, just let our babies come home already!! Good luck to you and I hope you get some great news soon!

There was a thread about this recently... maybe 5-8+ forum members responded as being in the same position as you.

I don't like all this secret embassy stuff surrounding our adoptions. I can't think of a single reason why they could be justified in withholding from us the following information:

1) If something specifically triggered an investigation in my particular case, what was it?

2) If there is a new procedure that all Pink and / or PA approvals are being subjected to, exactly what is this new procedure, and what is the expected effect on our timelines?

3) If we go through this new delay during the PA stage, does that mean we won't have extra steps at the Pink stage?

This is our government. They work for us. We have paid for their services. And we want to know what safeguards are being applied to our cases. Why is that so much to ask? I feel like we are being treated like criminals. But not quite - even criminals have a right to know the allegations and evidence against them. And even criminals can't be held in limbo indefinitely.

I remember reading that adoption visas are given high priority by the US government, for humanitarian reasons. I hope they are remembering that policy as they keep us hanging like this.

Eleanor,

I am so sorry that you too have to experience this. We are also suffering a long wait for pink. It is torture!

We were submitted for pink Feb. 20th if you can believe that. We have been given only vague information, similar to what you posted. The "not knowing" of course makes the situation even worse.

Try to hang in there.

That was exactly the same message our Congressman forwarded to us today regarding our PA.

SKL - I couldn't agree with you more!

I'm so sorry.

There was a statement on the DOS website about extra scrutiny...but I have a hard time believing that it takes an investigation to do this.

I hope that this is settled quickly and you see your pink slip very soon!

My friend is in Guatemala for pick up, her Pink Day was 5/2, but she just found out they pulled her Pink, and is going to investigations.... Aparently there was someones signature on it that they have been investigating....

I have never heard of them pull the pink once it has been issued, UNTIL NOW...

It is completely heart breaking to see someone there with full expectations of bringing a baby home, then BAM! get hit with this!

HUGS

I just wanted to say a big fat "AMEN" to all of this. They are OUR gov't, and they owe you a reason for pulling your file. This is not a top-secret mission they are embarking upon--it's the adoption of a baby or child. There is no reason for them to w/hold information.
