What do your kids call their grandmothers
My mom has bee trying to decide what she wants Ruby to call her. She would go with Granny, but that's already taken by her mother, who is Granny to everyone, even her son-in-laws. She has thought about having Ruby call her by her first name, which odd as it may sound to others is quite common in my family. My great grandmother, after whom Ruby is named, would not allow anyone except her children to call her anything other than Ruby. My grandfather was called by his first name by all his grandchildren as well.
Anyway, I'm looking for other ideas. We both have veto power if the other comes up with a really awful name but we're looking for suggestions.

My kids call my parents "Grandma and Grandpa" and my DH's parents "Oma and Opa" - the German version on G&G...we were moving to Germany after the birth of our first child and it seemed like an easy way to differentiate the two sets of grandparents.
You could always have Ruby call your mom "Abuela" which is spanish for grandma.

Oma and Opa on my side- I think we'll go with Grandma and Grandpa on my wife's side; however, they want to be called Me-Maw and Papa. Have no idea where Me-Maw came from. Sounds a bit funny to me.

Around here it's Papa and Bay-ya. Somtimes the kid will come up with their own name for grandparents. My dad is called Papa, which is what my sister and I call him, and our mom wanted be called Abuela, but then we shortened it to Bella, but my nephew calls her Bay-ya.

LOL. I have to laugh at this. I am by far the youngest of my sibs. My mother (my dad died last year) is expecting her first great-great grandchild! Well, I messed things up by adopting-- my midlife crisis, I guess. I inserted a new grandchild into the equation.
Everybody calls my mother "Grandmom" and called my dad "Granddad". Not my son! Despite the fact that I referred to them by their preferred names, he called them "Grandma" and "Grandpa". We all just shurgged and my folks responded. Maybe your child will pick out his or her own names for your folks, too. Bob |

Nana & Papa (my parents)
Grammy(or)Grandma & Grandpa (my DH Mom and husband) Mimi & Grandpa (my DH Dad and Step mom) We wound up with two Grandpa's so my son will now ask...Mimi's Grandpa or Grammy's Grandpa. GiGi & Grandpa Last name (my DH grandmother & grandfather) Grandma Last name (my grandmother) My son was the first grandchild all the way around...so we were able to "pick" the names. It was so nice to be able to come up with different names for all the Grandma's it sure makes things easier.

All of the grandchildren on my husband's side call their grandmother "Darlin" (like darling)
This happen b/c she used to refer to them as darling, and when they began to call her that, it just stuck. My mom will probably be "Maw Maw" , it's a tradition. And both grandfathers will be "Paw Paw" My close friend's kids call their grandmother "Tink" (like Tinkerbell). It is too cute.
