Need to vent...about my agency / attorney

Ok, first off I get down here to find that my son has bronchitis and no one ever bothered to tell me. I found out that he has been sick...on antibiotics and breathing treatments. Before I came down here I hadn't gotten a medical update in over a month. That was the first time that had happened. ALSO, found out that when Zachary was born he stayed in the hospital extra time because he was sick and having problems. Do you think anyone ever flippin' told me about this?? UGHHHHH

Today I found out that out attorney only supplies 4 diapers PER DAY PER CHILD! I was told that they actually count them out!! They are such cheap, money hungry, selfless people! I was infuriated...pretty much beyond words. As much money as we pay these people, you would think they would AT LEAST do what they say they will do. I have been in a foul mood today...ever since I found out about these things. Also, I was told that they provide formula and clothes for the babies and I found out today that they do NOT provide clothes and that my child has been wearing clothes that are way too small for him. I am so FURIOUS!!!!!!!! They also only provide a certain amount of formula.

Ok so last but not least, I broke my durn toe yesterday I think. I have been in excrutiating pain. I need drugs!!! (advil only)

So, has anyone else had to deal with this kind of bolognie from their agency or attorney

I know this is almost over and that is the ONLY thing keeping me calm right now. OH and any of your reading this who are with my agency, please DO NOT tell them where you heard this if you decide to confront them.

Thanks for letting me vent!!! HUGS!!!

Rant away you have every right

OMG. I am so sorry about the way you and your child have been treated. As if it isn't hard enough to be so far away from your child and then to find out that he is not being cared for in the best way and that they are keeping things from you. I hope you confront your agency. I worry about this stuff all the time because our attorney doesn't give out much info and the agency is pretty quiet too. Would you mind pming me with your agency and attorney names?

Enjoy your time with your son and take care

HI Rebecca,

Sorry to hear about your experiences. Sounds like your agency/atty. is definitely not on the up and up.
Once you are done with your adoption I would post the name of your agency atty. in various Guatemala adoption channels. For eg. Yahoo groups. Although you probably can't do anything to remedy what happened to your child, you can prevent others from using an unscrupulous agency.
HOpe things get better from here.

I don't know about anything like this, but for that matter, I know practically nothing about their medical history, because I can't seem to get any updates. I have not received any medical updates since my referrals. The medicals I got at that time were already about 3 weeks old (younger baby) and 1.5 months old (older baby). I have repeatedly asked for updates, and also I'd like to know what was happening with my older baby between birth and referral, since I got the referral when she was 3.5 months old. How long was she with her birth mom? (Seems like at least 1 month, maybe 2.) Why did the birth mom decide after all that time to relinquish her? Why did another 1.5 months (at least) go by after that before my referral? Was she malnourished? Had she been in the hospital? How long has she been with her foster mother? Why is it so hard for me to get this information? I've been asking for it for the past 2.5 months. My agency keeps saying they are asking / trying to get the information for me. It just seems to me that this should not be that hard to get - someone close to my case has to know this stuff.

They both look great in the update photos I got a few weeks ago, but I'd still like some evidence that they are getting medical checkups and are growing at a healthy pace. As was mentioned above, my fees are more than sufficient to cover this, and it's what I was promised.

On the positive side, we get to visit our babies so we can get a sense of their general state of health, at least at that moment in time. I hope I don't see anything concerning during my visit, because I don't know how I will be able to leave them in uncertain circumstances while I'm in PGN, etc.

so sorry to hear what has been going on ... there really are no good reasons for behaviour like that ... so glad you will be home soon ... be sure to post where you can, so other families can avoid these kind of 'practices'

safe journey home

Oh Sweetie, (((((HUGS)))) I can SO relate!

When I went down to pick up our daughter almost a year ago, after waiting 11 months, I found out at my Embassy appt. that she has a serious congenital heart problem. The facilitator told me, not to worry because the Embassy doctors made mistakes that she just had a cold. Well she DID have a chest cold and sounded awful and I didn't even think to take meds with me. I never received a medical and was told she was low birth weight (which was fine:-) AND healthy.

It is so not fair. People can get so corrupted when it comes to making money. And the little children are the ones that suffer.

Blessings,
Sandra
